hey guyss i think i want a quiet car

well basically i would like to know the quietest aftermarket exhaust setup that could give me a decent performance upgrade ..... i know exhauts don't really give all that much extra hp but i would like to know which is the most quiet and whether i should go catbak or muffelor & .b pipe

I'd would say your best bet would be 5th Gen muffler, you'll still sounds stock but have a good sound at WOT. In terms on cat back, might as well get a custom cat back to go with the 5th gen muffler.

Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, 22" resonator and 2.5" piping. It should sound nice and quiet, I am going with hte same setup only with a 20" resonator.

What about the Apexi WorldSport?? I think that gives a pretty subtle aftermarket sound. And speaking of Apexi WS, where can i buy the Apexi WS2?

Stock B-pipe and muffler if u want quiet, the performance difference isn't enough to even bother spending the money. I thought the only reason you got an aftermarket muffler was to make noise? j/k

I think a quiet aftermarket exhaust is kind of an oxymoron. EVERY thread I read on impressions after just installing a catback is "it sounds great but it sure is LOUD!" or something along those lines...

If you want the aftermarket "look," you may just want to go with the 5th gen muffler like MDeezy said. If you're going for horsepower, I'd just stick with a y-pipe. Eventually, I'll put a 5th gen muffler on my car, but I won't touch the b-pipe or cat because I just don't want it loud (and there's always the $$$ that I'd save).

Seems like Custom Enterprises' y-pipe, while beefy is still somewhat subtle. It doesn't have a raspy tone that is easier to hear. Just add that in with a 5th gen muffler..?

^dumbest thing ever
As long as you don't have a y-pipe your exhaust will be quiet no matter what cat-back you get, as long as it isn't a rice-*** N1 style muffler.

I'm sure that your muffler isn't as loud as mines. I put a OBX Catback w/ Stillen y-pipe. It's going to be a little louder at first. But after awhile it will sound very nice w/ a good tone. When you come down the block everyone will have no choice but to

Before I changed the catback, I put on a Forza Tuning muffler. It gave a very nice quiet tone. But a catback would be just about the same. Just as said by someone else, w/ a y-pipe you will notice a significant change in sound.

If I put a 22 inch resonator in place of the stock catalyc converter is that going to quieit my car because it is too loud now. I got warpspeed y-pipe, stock cat, removed old resonator and put in a small 8 inch resonator and dual tip muffler.

Dynomax super turbos are pretty quiet for the flow you get from them. I run a y-pipe, stock cat, 2.5"/3" piping and a 3" super turbo, no resonator. Even this setup is relatively quiet (compared to straight-thru mufflers). Idle is a bit loud, but its a very low deep tone so its not objectionable.

dont even attempt a magnaflow muffler. they are straight thru, mine sounded like a dump truck from how loud it was... i have 2.5 catback gutted cat and y pipe. 22" resonator(magnaflow) and dynomax muffler. my car is still a bit loud but if you want to go with quiet ride, just leave the stock catback and just change muffler to dynomax superturbo, you wont be disappoinsted at all.... my boys s0ber and eddie(forogt his org name) both have the stock catback. s0bers car is quiet with a slight deep tone wen ur outside the car in the back section. inside no sound. eddies car has ypipe, gutted cat, stock bpipe and stock muffler, his car is completly quiet like stock. and if ur worried about performance loss with stock cattback. eddie puts down about 184hp. so the peformance difference is berly noticible unless you have forced induction... hope this helpd

my exhaust is loud and i dont havea y-pipe so there goes that theory..its all the the muffler and reosnator....that fact is that most aftermarket mufflers are straight thru because most people buy aftermarket mufflers for the straight thru design....Apexi makes universal WS mufflers now....they sound great and look great as well

If you want a quiet exhaust but want that aftermarket look, then keep the stock muffler and weld a nice tip on it. I went with flowmaster delta flow series 40 universal. It is a bit loud but that's because I have a stock b-pipe. I will get a custom b-pipe made with a resonator to quiet things down a bit. I do need a new tip because I'm tried of how mine looks.

I'm actually looking to get what Kevlo is getting. Super turbo muffler 2.5 in/out. custom 2.5 pipe and a resonator. What is the size of our stock ones? And is 22' the biggest we can get?

I haven't gotten around to checking out prices yet but the muffler was around $55. piping i'm assumeing is $150.
