Installing new carpet, pulling the dash

I'm installing formed carpet for my 96 GLE. I'm down to removing the center console and dash. I have consulted my Maxmia service manual and followed the pictured instructions, but the dash is still firmly attached to the body. I really need some help. :>(

you dont "have to" remove it to install the carpet, i cut the bands on the carpet and reattached them when i ran them in the proper place under the dash, 10x faster and easier then removing the dash. i used steel wire to reattach it and you cant see it so its not like it matters. hope i helped a little at least...

Thanks for the re: I did finally move the dash enough to do the same. The carpet went in nicely and buying a T50 tamper proof helped alot to remove the dash from the airbags. Thats where I got stuck. It's all back together and everything works. :>)

Thanks again.
