Lug Nuts wont fit- has anyone seen this before?
Lug Nuts wont fit- has anyone seen this before?
I havea 95 Nissan Maxima SE...
On each of the wheels there is 1 lugnut missing. I went and bought 4 factory, same kind as the other lugnuts, to put in those spaces...
Came home and they would not fit, the screw thing does not come out of the rim its goes right up to the end of the rim, but does not extend out enough for these to be put on...
Is this the way the 95's are made or am I missing something...
If you dont understand, I will try and get a picture

Those are called lug studs by the way. sounds like they were twisted off. maybe a previous owner had locking lugnuts on there, and someone tried to steal his rims, and the just twisted the locking lugnut off along with the stud. and he just never bothered to replace those 4 studs.
My dad has this trick he does, it seems to work 99% of the time.
Put some engine oil on the studs, then screw in the lug nut until it "grabs". Then screw the nut 1/4 to 1/2 turn, then back off, then again 1/4 turn then back off again and repeat this procedure until it's screwed all the way in. Then unscrew it completely, then screw it in all the way. The last step is to ensure you did it right. It'll be hard to do, the lug nut will just not move sometimes, but be firm and patient and it will eventually. I call it "poor man's re-threading" but it works... we did two bad studs on my Max this way.
