new filter = cel ? not right

i installed a new filter in place of the stock air box... nothing to it... i told my mom to start it back up, she did but the cel was on... i said crap! i forgot to plug back in the maf sensor... so i told her to cut it off, which she did, and i plugged it back in... but it is still on... so i reset the ecu, and it is still on...

help! she's not mad, but i don't really understand why it's on, and kinda want to fix it so she will know when she really does need to check the engine...

asap please!

try driving the car for a few miles. The CEL might go away.

If you reset it comes on again? Try resetting it again. Make sure all the vacum hoses are in tight also

Disconnecting the battery does not reset the ECM. Check the FAQS, there's a procedure yo have to follow basically... With the ignition key on start position (don't turn on the car). Turn the ECM screw (it's right by your gas pedal covered by a plastic shield) closckwise till it stops hold for 5 sec and then turn it counterclockwise to the original position. Your Check engine light will start blinking. Check the flashes and see in the FAQS to what's the problem. Now do the screw turning again like before and the ECM is reset. Turn the car on and the light will be off.

Does it run properly? Maybe you didnt reset it. When it resets it should stop blinking and go solid, make sure it does that. If the car operates normally, you're MAF is fine, you just need to clear the code.
