hey quick question about IMs

i know with the mevi you need to upgrade your ecu, but i was wondering if you got the 00vi, would you still need to upgrade the ecu?

You don't NEED to upgrade the ECU with the mevi. The gains for a mevi (and 00 VI) are up top and continue past the stock redline so for this reason an upgraded ECU would be beneficial for both.

Down low the MEVI loses alot of power compared to stock. An upgraded ECU will give alot of this power back. With a stock IM or the 00 VI this low end gain with an ECU will actually be a gain (rather than just getting the power you lost back).

You're contradicting yourself. Without the ECU the MEVI is a worthless mod to most. If you're getting the MEVI to have a faster car you're wasting money as your car will actually be slower. So you actually do need the ECU so that the MEVI actully does something. For the 2KVI you really don't need a ECU but I'd get one so that you can still make power past the stock 6550 redline.

Not really. In a 1/4 mile...yes. However if you do alot of highway driving a mevi will still make your car faster even without an ECU...kinda like a honda.
