TPS Question

I'm trying to figure out why my rpms drop suddenly when letting off the gas and coming to a stop. Sometimes the car dies, sometimes the rpms drop to one or two hundred. I tried replacing the mass air flow sensor to no avail. I tried testing the Throttle Position Sensor and switch. The sensor's resistance tests perfectly in the range given in my Chilton manual. However, when testing the continuity of the closed throttle position sensor switch (the connector right next to the TPS connector), something doesn't seem right. The Chilton manual says that continuity should exist when the throttle is in both the closed and wide open position, and that continuity should not exist anywhere in between closed and wide open throttle. My multimeter says that continuity exists at closed throttle, but I have no continuity at wide open throttle or anywhere in between closed and open. Does this mean my TPS switch is bad?
