Need quick response... how to remove tails?

I just got the David L Clear corners in the back for my car. Im about to put them in but how in the hell do you remove the taillights? I unscrewed the 4 nuts surrounding the light bulb housing piece but that didnt do anything. I tried banging on the long screws that stick into the car through the sheetmetal but that wouldnt push the light out either. How is it done?

i had the same prob, i just brought it in the garage, and hit around the screws/adhesive on the inside with a hairdryer for 10 mins, thenit should push out, use your palm against the black inside of the light, i also shimmied it side to side from the outside, but be careful not to crack ur lights

I just put some 95-96 red/clear tail lights on my max last weekend, it's not that hard. One word of advice though, scrape off the tar-ish stuff around the white bulb-holder (for lack of better words) area with a screwdriver, it'll help loosen the fixture up a bit. With the first push after I scraped that crap off, it came right out.

Buuuuut it looks like you already got them out... Just use that for future reference I guess...

Hope this helps. I hit the screws with a hammer then pushed the light out from inside the trunk. You have to use a little force, just take your time, you'll get it.

I didn't dare grab a hammer and start pounding my tail lights like some say, it comes out SO much easier if you just remove that tar-goo stuff and give it a good push

I put my red/clears in during the summer and the sealant glue was soft enough that they came out pretty easily... That stuff is probably frozen.
