Well, if you buy one of those CAIs on ebay that are made for 97-99 (most are) and install them on a 95/96, most people just zip-tie the temp sensor to something in the engine bay.
I bought my CAI from Cattman (expensive, I know), and he has two different models for each type.

It seems to me that someone has a problem with new people posting questions about their cars, and other people replying to them. I thought that this is what this web site is all about, you know asking questions and just basic discussion about the NISSAN MAXIMA.....

So I would suggest that you invest in a true CAI. One that is away from the heat of the motor

Once again, I'm out of my element since I've a 2003 Corolla, but it's all the same. I installed an AEM CAI onto mine and got assloads of detonation between 1800 and 2800rpms at 1/2-full throttle and a big fattie torque loss down low. A nice gain at 6000rpms with redline 450rpms later - what good does that do? None. It caused my engine to run WAY lean. Why?
MAF sensors are touchy - most CAI designers seem to forget or just plain ignore that. If they are too close to the throttle body, they wig out b/c they don't like lots of intake noise. And you know that little screen that's between the filter and the MAF sensor - well, it's there for a reason. My car has it too. It's used to straighten the airflow out. MAF sensors hate turbulence. A CAI typically puts the MAF sensor right close to the throttle body and doesn't provide a way to straighten the airflow out - and a nice straight tube isn't enough. End result....inaccurate MAF sensor readings and a lean mixture....lots of detonation that not even the knock sensor can help.
Save your $ and your engine and just modify the existing intake. You can't improve on it much. I'd just get a drop-in K&N filter and be done with it. My CAI was a $200 throw-away. I sold it on ebay and pity the person who has it.
