Noise under acceleration...

I just got my car back from getting a headunit installed, and now notice a noise under acceleration -- kind of like the sound a supercharger would make (whirring...). I get it in all gears, however, predominately in 1-3. I just cleaned my throttle body, and I got my clutch replaced 500 miles ago with the 5th gen. set up (I LOVE IT by the way, I just got to open her up today ). Is it possible that my mechanic had an extra supercharger laying around and decided to install it for me free of charge??? Seriously though, what are some possibilites of the source of this noise?

Lou

how do you fix this??? I'm getting kinda pissed off now, I have to drive 30 mins. each way, and have already had to go back today AFTER picking the car up. They installed my dash wrong (the flip down compartment -- the equivalent of the tray that later models have), and it sat so that it opened UP. This is not fun to realize...
