What do I need in order to install me airbags

Both my driver and passenger airbags deployed it a while ago(accident), Im interested in replacing them. Besides the airbags what else do I need?

The special air bag torx socket.
The passenger side one is a real big pain to get at without taking the dash out.
Good luck, it can be done.

first of all, they deployed. so they cant blow again whoever said that. plus you have to remove the passengers side airbag to remove the dash.

to remove it is very simple. drivers side is the easiest. you need a set of torx which can be bought at a local autostore. drivers you have to remove the cruise control switch that is on the steering wheel. it is held in place with 2 screws. then after you remove that, you can see the bolt that holds the airbag on that side. you use the torx to remove teh bolt. on the other side of the steering wheel, you remove teh plastic cover and you see the torx bolt already. then after you unscreww both of those bolts, the airbag comes out of the steering wheel. same process to put it back together.

now passengers side, you have to remove the glovebox. it is held in place with6 screws that you can see very easy. after you remove the glovebox, you just have to look around where the glovebox was for the torx bolts that hold the airbag in the dash. i beleive there is 4 of them. then you just push the airbag from under the dash up and remove the airbag. same process of putting it back in.

now the brain of the operation is under the center console. to be exact it is under the armrest but you have to remove the center console to get to it. the computer that operates the airbags is held with 4 torx bolts just like the ones that held the airbag in place. that is all. you could leave the connector for it disconected so they dont blow on you if you egt into a crash and just take out the light bulb in the gauge cluster or you could connect the connector and connect the airbags but before you connect everything, disconect the battery for a couple of minutes and the nconnect everything and then put the battery cables back on. this is so that the bags dont blow on you again while you are connceting them. i could get you all the info from my nissan repair manual with pictures on how to do it if you want. also i have a 96 airbag in black for sale for the drivers side if you want to buy it from me. it isnt deployed and is in good condition. glad i could help.

and how do the dealers or body shops do it then? that is why when yyou read my post, i say if you are going to install then, you need to disconect the battery for 3 minutes. t says so in my nissan repair manual. what do you suggest then? driving around with blown ones?
