Advance auto parts hood struts keep failing

I bought hood struts from Advance auto parts for $25 for 2 but they keep failing after 1-2 yrs. It has a lifetime warranty but is annoying to get them replaced. Anyone have better luck with a different aftermarket brand?

I only bought one from autozone because they were $$$. They seem like a pain to install. Has any one changed one of these?

it's easy to change them out. All you need is a small cresent wrench or suitable open end wrench and just unscrew each end, then do the reverse to install them. It does help to have someone there to hold the hood up for you.

Yes, they are very easy to install. I got some hood struts at AutoZone and they have been working for about 4 months.

Thanks A32Matt, Thats the best news I've had all day! The instructions on the package are scary though. I read on it that Filing, grinding and drilling may be required. Then I just threw it on the floor and said maybe next year.
