Help Me With My Sound System!!!

Aight, I got a 98 Max with the Bose Sound System. I wanted to get a new Deck but keep the stock speakers but people keep telling me that you can't do that because of the discrepancy of OHMS that the two run at.
Okay, since I can't do that, i was interested in just getting SUBS then.

Keeping the stock deck, with thee stock bose speakers, and getting a nice sub. Is that a good idea. I mean..i don't really want it to thump...just want it to sound clean and crisp with the added bass. What would i have to do to add a sub then? Will i control the base from the factory **** on the deck or would I control the base from the amp?

Any ideas would be appreciated cuz i really don't know anything about subs and stuff. What would be some good subs and amps, however i don't want something ridiculously expensive. How are the JL W3's? Would my truck rattle if i didn't get it dynomatted?

Any input would be appreciated.

short answer: any aftermarket deck will work with your Bose system.

you can and many have wired aftermarket radios to the Bose system.... the problem is that standard aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm.... the Bose speakers are .75 ohm.... the load reduction can cause the internal amp in the aftermarket radio to burn out.... I rewired my system using the Bose speakers.... however they are powered by a 1 ohm stable amp.... no problems with this route.... if you just want to add a sub.... you can add it to the factory system by tapping into the rear channel with a line level converter providing RCA output from the rear channel to hook to an amp.... the converter for the Bose system is the easiest and safest way to go if you are not adding amps to the system
