Anyone know how to remove the metalic trim around the GXE/GLE windows?
Paint it black? I don't mind it, superblack GXE. I have Konig Reigns and it all ties together with the chrome door handles. SE's are nice and an SE it isn't, but still looks good. I was going to go the "SE" route a few years ago, but I'm happy with how it looks now.

I used "black out Tape" on my 85 Volvo Wagon to try to make it look like a turbo, it worked wekk, had the tape on from 86 till I sold it in 99 (when I got the Max), no problems. When it started to fade (like black plastic trim does), I just used some "Black Again" stuff.
Yes, SE's are good looking and the wholesale cost of an SE over the GXE when new was only about $1,500 (basic cars), but I didn't want a spoiler. After I got done adding the SE Fogs ($225+labor), struts, alloys, muffler and stereo, I spent about $5G for a car that has the resale value of a GXE, LOL. But at least I still have no spoiler!
By the way, my new 99 5 Spd GXE was $18,250 in May of 99, after all discounts/cash back. Great bargain.
The salesman was trying to upsell me though. We had to drive to the storage lot and he chose a loaded 99 SE for me to drive. I almost caved in when I saw my Superblack GXE minus wheelcovers and plus the plastic covers on the seats and I then listened to the stock (blah!) radio, but I held firm.

I used black out tape on my trim which is starting to peel around the rear window. I will re-do that piece this spring. I sort of miss the chrome trim though, it really complimented the lip on my rims.
Are you talking about the chrome trim around the window?
I removed it when I had to buy a used door for my SE the used door had the chrome trim so I removed it and put on the black trim. I wrote down some instructions let me find them I'll post them or send me your email to miemail@optonline.net
