Wow...all mad-max98 has to do is bet enough to cover the cost of the job! He could get this done for free!

Would you give me those odds? And be willing to put the $$ in escrow?

What tranny do you plan on mating with the engine because the stock tranny has axle holes meant for FWD ? You're gonna need a RWD tranny, cross-member support, rear suspension... my mind is a blur right now with so much work you'll have to do, new ECU for the new tranny unless you do a manual setup, exhaust routing, what about the front wheels, they'll now have no axles, you have to figure out a steering system or something, etc.

I wish you luck but with all that money and time, why not just get a Trans Am and mod the hell out of it. You'll do it for much less time and money and you can probably hit 8's or better.

There's no way in hell you can do this RWD conversion for $1500 bucks unless you plan on using tons of parts from your shop at tax-payers expense.

Nice to see you have so much free time on that base.

The Murano is basically FWD/AWD. That's where I think a lot of misconception occurs. If you have a FWD vehicle with an AWD option, the vehicle is still basically FWD. Murano can be switched into 2WD for fuel economy's sake--that is, FWD.

The Porsche Turbo comes in only one flavor, permanent AWD. But it is still basically a RWD car--under normal circumstances, at minimum 5% of the torque is sent to the front wheels. In an extreme case, 40. As is a 325Xi. A4 Quattro? FWD. Subaru AWD? Basically FWD.

Those who desire RWD so badly, when was the last time you drove one? What exactly is the allure to it? I drove my mom's car over the XMAS holiday, it wasn't any big deal. If you want it that badly, why not pick up a used 240SX or 350Z?

Hahaha good idea, but even easier, why not just turn your seat around? but in all honesty, im looking for a 93ish 240 right now, the maxima is an awesome fwd car, but thats exactly what it is. a fwd car. i want a 240 for drifting and showing off, and for the snow. thats about all i cant do as well in a max. I agree with some of the people here in that a RWD max is long overdue, and i wish you the best of luck.

if you drive like your MOM then it provides no advantages but if you drive more aggresively it has alot to offer, like:

when you press the gas where does the wieght shift to front or rear? so what does that do for grip? more wieght balance car is better or worst for handling?

The main attraction is traction. You will get much better results at the track. IMHO, I prefer FWD for a daily driver, so I wouldn't even want a RWD Maxima.

If I were building a 600HP track car...RWD all the way! But, figure it'd cost you ~$10k to get a Max up to 600HP and another $10k to make it RWD...much better options when you're shopping for a ~$20k track car.
