5-Speed owners: Replace your OEM clutch...

cause they suck!

Well...I bought new clutch lines from Nissan around 6 months ago ($60). My old lines were letting fluid out and I finally went to replace them today. A simple 15 minute job turned into 3 hours. If you have ever done the job you know the little block I am talking about. I would tighten it down as tight as possible and it would still shoot fluid out. Went to the autoparts and bought new washers, still leaked, doubled them up, still leaked...me and my dad tried everything possible and could not get a seal, who knows why.

I bought a SS clutch line from Derrick a while back, it was for my 3rd gen. I finally got sick of jacking with this block/line OEM set up. I grabbed the SS line from my 3rd gen, which is slightly longer and it worked like a champ, no leaks and put it on in 10 minutes. Derricks lines are awesome AND cheap! I paid $60 for this POS OEM lines and Derricks are less than $30 shipped. They replaced the crappy block and make it one solid line, this is no sales plug for him. Just really want to save any owners from dealing with this in the future. Go ahead and spend the cash now and get that SS line for the future, they rock! OEM sucks for double the money.

I tried to keep this thread short cause I know when people open long threads they get turned off, but I had to vent.

Here is the link to his GD on the lines, do yourself a favor for CHEAP! They also look sweet when you pop the hood and are stronger and just a TON better for half the price.

yeah, me either...but for some reason this was a PITA. I dont know why Nissan changed the clutch line design to have that block anyways, it works so much better as a solid line, one extra thing not to worry about. This thing would not seal tight, I was wrenching it down so hard I thought for sure it was going to break and still you press the clutch and phhhhh all out.

When I was doing my 5spd swap, the factory lines they sent me were bad, so I went and bought a straight line, the kind you can bend yourselves. Works great.

I got the SS line too. 2 less connections, less weight, cheaper, and more durable. Why not spend the money on a nice piece?

Do it, piece of cake, will probably take you 15-30 minutes. You will then sit back and look at how awesome it is, true SS rocks.

what kind of results are you looking for? 10hp? They stop leaks, and maybe slightly stiffen up your pedal feel I suppose ... I bought one, just waiting to install it still.
