Installing heavy duty wiring harness

I bought a nokya heavy duty wiring harness for the headlights. I was just wondering if anyone has already installed it. Do I just cut off the stock wires and just match it with new wires? Does it matter where I cut the wire? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks~

My wiring harness upgrade didnt require any form of cutting and rewiring of the original wires. I got one that essentially uses thicker gauged wires as well as relays to the battery. My wiring harness is a 9004 to 9007 change up to...oh and by the way I am getting a pretty good beam pattern with my 9007 HIDs.

you didnt get a harness, you have a pigtail. you can solder it directly to the OEM wires and it will work, but you didnt eliminate the crappy OEM wires....the weak spot. may as well not even use them honestly.

I belive I got them from some guy that was recommend from the 9004 to 9007 conversion topic msg board which I think is an Ebay seller..try there. I would totally suggest this then redoing the whole factory wires because it elminates the need for changing the factory wires because the relay uses the low current signal from the factory wires and uses a emf based mechnical switch to turn on the headlights using the battery...hence elminating the need to change the factory wires.

When you say pigtail, do you mean the one shown above? The one in the picture is the one I got. I bought it so that I can use 80/100W bulbs. Would it not prevent the wires and the socket from melting? If it is the right one, how should I install it?

The kit that you are showing looks to be the harness plug adapter for the lights. By changing those out you really dont do anything to help lower the resistance of the total line because you are going to bottle neck the system where ever you solder the wires together...which would be the most likely place where the system will over heat. I would totally reccommend using relays in the system because it will give you 2 indepdent electrical circuits. Thats my 2cents.

that's a pig tail, yes sir. you can cut off the stock plugs and solder them on, but its pretty much the same as stock doing it that way. Why do you want to install these plugs?

I really want to do this upgrade, but don't know how to get that info on the ones you got, which sounds really good that you do not need to replace the whole wires; if you have time can you please try to find where can we buy that harness? I have been all over looking for them (Autozone, Advance, Strauss, Walmart, etc..) they only have the pigtail. Thanks

Try this link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6763 . I think this is the same person that I got it from...you dont need to get the 9007, that is if you want to use the higher wattage 9007 bulbs though taht give a better beam pattern.

I have one of those ebay harness' and I didn't like it. The harness was easy to install by after installing it, I turned my lights on and my bright lights didn't work just goes out. Also the bright light symbol stays on.

umm... did you get a pigtail? isn't that basically a lower guaged extension? how could that cause the problems you have? i wouldn't think anything like that would happen unless you wired them wrong?

sounds like 5speeddemon bought a 9007 harness and didnt rewire the stock plug, or bought a 9004 harness and used 9004 bulbs. the wires are different.

jdm71488 get a full upgraded harness that draws power straight from the battery.

so how hard is it to do this change? and what's the main difference between 9004 and 9007? Basically if you want a brighter and better visibility, you need a 9007?

there is a 9004 wire relays on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

what would be the difference with buying this or 9007 ones?

the 9004 harness is plug and play, no modifying anything. It plugs into the drivers side plug, connects to a ground, and connects to the positive terminal of the battery.

the 9007 is basically the same thing, but you have to swap the low beam wire and ground wire on the stock connector. Then to make the 9007 bulb fit the headlight you must remove 2 "nubs" that are in the hole (in the headlight housing) where the bulb fits into. Full write up is in the stickies.

The 9007 has more light output so you can see the road better.
