Lock lugnuts question

Hello,

My car is a 95 Nissan Maxima. When purchased this car I realized each of my rims only had only 4 lugnuts, each rim missing 1. I took it back to the dealer to tell them this today and they said they would fix it and that is was probably locking lugnuts...

They came back to me and informed me that there is only 4 lugnuts suppose to be on each rim and the open slot was for the key lugnut?? Is This correct?

I got 5 regular lugnuts and I don't think my manual mentions locking lugnuts so they're probably not stock but a good idea nonetheless.

I bought locking lugnuts anyway so if he'll throw them in for free, who cares, just take the nuts. If he gave me regular ones, I'd buy locks anyway.

Wow. That's bullsh!t. Even if it is for a keyed lugnut then a lugnut should still be there. The lugnuts are on there for a reason (to hold the wheel on) so you definitely want them on there. Take it back and make them put something on. If they give you keyed ones make sure you get the key. It looks like a socket that fits the wierd shape of the keyed lugnut.

Drive your car to the dealership.. if they do not put 1 lug nut on each wheel, give them the car back and get your money back and find another dealership.

There should be 5 lug nuts on each rim.

Hello

The car is a used 95 maxima and I have had it for about 32 days now... I know this is stupid but I did not realize it did not have all 5 untill day 29!

I took the car there as soon as I could...

They told me that there is suppose to be only 4. The guy who had the car before me wanted the lock lugnuts which only have 4 on each wheel. They told me there was a key type one in the back of the car that I put on each of the open bolts??

I just checked the back of the car and there is a large style type lugnut thing that does fit on the screw and has a whole in the center of it... How is this used to unluck all the lugnuts?

Im tottaly confused... If I was to have a flat tire, how do I get the tire off?
And is everyone sure even with lock lugnuts there should be 5 lugnuts on each, not 4 lock lugnuts and an open one for a key??

-- If so what should I do, should I take it to another nissan dealership and get their opinion and if it is the same as yours all on here have them write and sign something saying that what I am driving is not correct and present to the dealership I bought the car from and demand a fix?

So if you took one of the lugnuts off that's what the blank one would look like right.

I'm sorry, there's no nice way to say this...you aren't too bright are you? They gave you a blatently false explanation just to get rid of you and you fell for it. Again I'm sorry for putting it that way, but there's no other way to put it.

Take it back there and get your 4 lugnuts. If they won't give 'em to you go someplace and buy a set...maybe it would be best if you had someplace put them on too.

The KEY in the trunk is an adapter that you put on your tire iron and it matches up with the KEYED lug. It seems the guy took the lug bolts and just left the key. So the key is pretty useless. Take the car to the dealership and just say i feel its unsafe to drive with 4 bolts when there should be 5 and put 5 on like its supposed to be...its a clear safty issue and it is not an expensive thing whatsoever for the dealer....and hell if they give u crap dont take no for an answer....but anyways you could just buy 4 lugs for realativly cheap at a junkyard anyways. just my 2 cents

yes

All of the lugs on the car now cannot be taken off unless you use a key... It can't be taken off with a wrench...

I bought 4 regular lugnuts for the car and they would not fit on the empty bolts...

So thats when I took the car into the delaership and told them about it, and then they said thats how its suppose to be...

How much would you think it would cost to have them take all the locking ones off and put 5 regular lugs on all four tires?

Thanks again
