I have the exact same problem. You need to have a friend push the slide control switch to open the roof a couple of inches. Then have him close it while you pull the glass in and up with one hand on each side of the sunroof. The dealer told me my track is broken and I need a new one. It will cost about $1100.00 to fix, downer.

Damn, thats a major bummer, seems like a common problem amongst Maxima owners. My mother had this same problem on her 90SE and the dealer quoted us a hefty sum to fix it.

Wish there was just some way to get it back on track.

Good Luck

if you look in the owners manual theres a way you can shut your sunroof if it doesnt shut... you pop out the plastic piece around the switch and theres a little piece that you put the alan key into to manually crank it closed... the alan key is in the trunk with the lug nut wrench... never tried it but i read it in the manual once give it a shot

In the same boat

If it makes you feel any better, my sunroof broke about two weeks ago. Only one side seems to "pull" so I suspect one of the link wires is broken. I'm going to have Nissan fix it but you are right, it is very expensive. The whole headliner and steering wheel and/or seats have to be removed.

Let us know how it turns out.

roman, i saw those stuff on junk yards here in brooklyn or at junkyards in NJ (newark area) near Ikea store and they have a lot of wrecked maximas 95-99 years, so you can buy any part from them and its darn cheap since you go to car and remove a part by yourself, while you are there you can pick any other parts you will need.

where in Brooklyn? I tried a couple but they did not have any? Also, where near IKEA? I went to IKEA but I have no idea where the junk yards are.

Thanks a lot

at least the glass stays on the roof

those little metal? clips broke on mine and if i drive over 95 MPH the glass starts lifting and opens a couple of inches now. I have to get that fixed.
The sunroof is great when it works...and a b*tch to get it fixed.

In Brooklyn go either on McDonald Ave and ave Y, there you will see small scale junk yard, or a several junk yards in sunset park area, its when you drive on 3th ave all way to Manhattan, you will see several junk yards on right side all of them operated by Spanish they could have import cars, but mostly its junk cars.

If i were you i would go to those huge junk yards near Ikea. How to find them?

When you drive to Ikea on NJ Turnpike, dont take Ikea exit, go to next exit, take it and drive around and you will find a huge street filled with so many junk yards thats where you can find virtually anything you want.

my email is cooler2000@zxmail.com if you have any qq.
