Car color and insurance Mahogany pearl/ Rosewood people- need help!

Ya know, my car is Mahogany Pearl. On my registration, it says RD, meaning Red. My car is NOT red. Does it have to do that it is in the red family or something? It's more brown maroon than anything else. Def not Red- it hardly stands out from the crowd like a true red car. it is definately making my insurance higher because it is listed as red, no? . Is there anything that can be done about this? Who do I cantact about this? The insurance is under parents name, but I pay them monthly for it. It's erking me now. Rosewood owners are closer to red then me. Are you guys listed as Red according to your insurance?

I dont believe car color has any impact on insurance rates. I think you may be thinking about studies that show red cars get ticketed more and get in more accidents. I think the reasoning for that is more sportscars are made in red then slower cars. But anyway i really dont think car color affects insurance at all. My color isnt listed anywhere on my insurance policy.
BTW 26 and still on your parents insurance? what gives

My car is listed as black on the registration, but it's not black, never has been.

It's no big deal.

Title's always list "close to" rather than actual colors, hell even my Suburban was listed as StnWgn for model and I just never considered it a station wagon with the 35's on it.

Actually red sport cars have higher insurance as opposed to a blue or black sports car. So color red does affect insurance cuz if red gets more accidents/tickets wouldnt insurers make that insurance higher !

It all depends on the ins company & the car. I doubt red buick park aves have higher ins rates than blue buick park aves. Maximas are very popular w/ thieves & tend to sustain more damage in crash tests than other cars, so our rates will be higher. Just part of the total cost of ownership.

So what can we do? Keep your driving record clean (no tix, no accidents, no claims) & try to keep your credit bureau in good shape. These two things drive rates more than most other things.
