Installed Catback - Muffler Heat Shield Necessary?

I just got my Warspeed catback today. I installed it this afternoon. I know these are not supposed to give much if any gain, but the engine seems to climb in rpms much smoother and the car does seem to accelerate a little quicker. Maybe it's just the placebo effect but either way I like the way it sounds and feels.

One question, are the heat shields above the muffler and the ones in the exhaust well (above the b pipe) necessary. They seem to be preventing the muffler from going up as high as it's supposed to and the b pipe is hitting one of them as well. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow I guess and if I can't get it I'll take it to a shop.

Thanks for any input.

Bump.

any know if the exhaust heat shields are necessary? I don't want to catch my car on fire.

So I'm not going to melt my carpet or interior parts if the shields are removed?

That's a little vague...reasons? I'm getting rattling between the muffler and shield so removing them seems to be the only solution.

Mine started to rust, so I took it off. Not a big deal, and I haven't had any problems.
