Does anyone have pics of a 98-99 Max with the Illuminas and either H&R springs or the Tokiko springs on the STOCK SE WHEELS?
I want to see how good it looks, I may not be able to afford wheels after the exhaust and suspension are done. I just bought my first house with a $1,500/mo mortgage. So if I can't buy wheels, at least I'll be able to see what the car will look like all summer w/ the stocks on.
Thanks anyone and everyone who shows me pics. Jeff

There's an animated gif showing the difference in drops between eibach (higher in front) and tein. On Eibach's they were paired with tokico blue's and on Tein they were paired with Illumina's as mentioned.

Both on stock wheels ... obviously.

Both wheel gaps are equal to the .2" but mine is not as stiff over bumps, that thing drives like it has no suspension travel

Thanks, you guys are awesome. I now have a pretty good idea of what my Max will look like. I can't really see much difference between the Tokiko springs and the H&R springs. They are pretty close in drop right? And ride I heard was comparable, not too bad.

Looks like H&R drops a little lower then Tokico springs.

This is of topic a little bit, but would the blue Tokicos (HP I think) handle the drop from H&Rs? I'm asking because they are cheaper.
My friend has an altima with blue Tokicos and Ground COntrols, and they seem to hold up.

Thanks boys, it looks like the white one is alittle lower because it has 17" rims. There are very close though. I'll go with either tokiko or the H&Rs. They are also the same price.
Thanks for the pics boys, I appreciate it.

Anymore Pictures White Maxima On The Right

Do you have any more pictures (close ups) of the white Maxima with the H&R Springs and 17" Wheels? Any rubbing with the 17's and drop? What size tires?

Thanks

Hey boys, driving home from work today, I was noticing how nice my Max rides. It is 100% stock right now. Going on that, I'm definitely going with the H&R springs with the Illuminas. I don't want to feel like I'm riding in a 1980 Chevy Blazer with 35 super swamper tires and a 6" lift kit ! H&Rs give the best ride, hands down. Plus sometimes I drive my parents around, and wouldn't want to kill them!
And on a different subject, Tirerack is out of the Evo-5s!! That sux! I know alot of people have those wheels, but they look so damn nice. Does anyone know where else I can get a set of 4 18" ?
Thanks guys
Jeff

They are G35 wheels so yes, there was some rubbing at the time but it was resolved by removing the sub box and changing the profile of the tires.

Thanks for the links to pictures of H&R's with 17's, vortechpower & Sup3rlativ3, both cars look awesome.

Sup3rlativ3, I know a guy with g35 17x7 wheels for sale that I think I'm going to buy. Are yours 17x7 or wider? and what size tires did you end up using? and do you still get any rubbing?

Thanks

Since that was your second post here, you must know that MOST combinations in general and 235/45/17 applications specifically, do not rub. You almost have to TRY to get wheel/tire combos to rub on our cars. I may have heard about one or two people who get rub in the rear on big bumps, but that is with a high offset (35mm - 25mm), super wide wheels, and/or super wide tires. There's even a 4th gen with 265's in the front and rear who claims to have no rub.

Sup3rlativ3, sorry about that. Thanks for the link to pictures, I like your 95 with tokico set up as well, I'm just trying to figure out strut/spring & 17" wheels deal.

Big Ham, ya maybe I'm new but the reason I was asking about tire rub was because of this post: "They are G35 wheels so yes, there was some rubbing at the time but it was resolved by removing the sub box and changing the profile of the tires."
I'm just trying to learn and understand - so don't be a d**khead.

I'm sorry if you were offended, but I was just making a generalized statement about rims and tires and gave some pretty good information. If you took my information and did a Google search to find what the offset is of the 17" G35 wheels:
17"
F: 17x7.5" +30mm
R: 17x8" +33mm
These clearly fall in my danger zone that I listed. They were never made for our cars and it is understandable they might rub.

You may also have found this by searching:
http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=27
Which is certainly not for our cars, but then gives you an idea what offsets are and how they apply given various wheel widths and offsets.

Perhaps in the future, you should do a little more Googling when you don't know much about the subject. It allows you to ask questions that might not make us look at how many posts you have made.

Good luck with your rim choice. My personal favorite is 18x8 +35mm or 18x8.5 +38mm. Either can be wrapped in 245/40/18 or maybe larger.

I have the H&R AGX in my car, my bro's got H&R/Tokico Blues. H&R/Blues is as close to stock as you will ever get. The handling is not as good as AGX, but ride is a tad better then AGX on softest settings. H&R AGX is great for adjustability, but AGX suck in extreme cold weather, they get a bit rough. I drive a lot on the highway and I like my setup, my only problem is the local road with the potholes and such, they get to be painful sometimes. if you dont have many bad local roads to go on I'd say get the AGX. good luck

heres a pic of AGX/H&R

Big_Ham,
Thanks for trying to help. The g35 wheels I was checking out are 17x7 with
a 45mm offset. My stock wheels are 16x6.5 with a 45mm offset, so I figured the g35 wheels would be ok. I've been trying to confirm that the 17x7/45mm g35 wheels would would work with a mild drop spring. The link you provided was helpful.

Thanks

So how about the ride on H&R springs with stock struts. Is that also stock floaty or just a bad combination. I probably hate rough ride more than the older guys here.

mdflyer, I do believe that those tires that he is using are the 17x7, they were rubbing because of the wide tires that came with those wheels. He did however go a step smaller in profile to a 45 I believe and it gave enough gap that there is no more rub. Also he did get stiffer AGX shocks from his previous GR2's to give a little more assurance that it will not rub.

I have a shot of how much clearance, taken by him with the 235/50/17's that were equipped originally with those wheels.

G35 wheels are 17x8 in the rear, 17x7.5 in teh front, 30mm offset in the front, 33mm offset in teh rear.

My 17" are anyways.

Unless you're totally hung up on the studs, I might recommend Alessio F1's nice finish. Back on this subject, I'm 42, and have Illumina's with Eibach Pro's and I love the range in ride comfort with the Illuminas, it also sits level front to back.

I love them, qualtiy seems good so far, I've only had them for a couple of months, but I have run them through snow, rain etc no probs, they're actually 18x8.5 on 245/40/18's.
PS Toyo Proxes4 are awesome!

Thanks man, did you need wheel spacers or hub rings? You know for the offset?
Thanks

Spacers=no
Hub rings - well here's the story I'll try to be brief, these wheels aren't available in Canada, so my tire shop couldn't get the rings they said I needed 69.1 OD & 66.1 ID, after checking around USA shops no one had that size, but most commented that if they are that narrow then I probably don't need them??? So I don't have any.
Offset = 42mm

No rubbing

PS: BTW thanks for the props on the Max, I've almost completed my mods: skirts, tails and hopefully supercharger!
