Im sure you guys have heard me b!tching and crying about how my car has been acting up... I finally found out whats wrong...
Yesterday I took it to a shop that does electric work...

Apparently the wiring harness on my car and ECU are from different years.... my wiring harness and ECU are from a 97-99 which have different emissions systems than 95/96's. The one difference they have that I know for sure is the rear 02 sensor, 97-99 have a 4 prong harness while the 95/96 have a 3 prong harness, thats why even after replacing the rear 02, the CEL would pop up almost immediately.

THe guy gave me a loaner 95 ECU last night and driving here to work and around last night, I havent gotten a code yet, so I'm crossing my fingers. The MAP sensor code was fixed... 2 of the vacuum lines were crossed and the Knock Sensor had a wire on the harness that was missing... my car was a massacre and a half. THe car was there from 8am till 4pm... but thankfully he only charged me $110 for everything. These guys are good... very very good with electrical work....

Anyways, saturday I have to return and they're going to run the scan tool again, in the mean time i'm going to check the codes on my own tomorrow... if it all works I'm going to buy the ECU from him and sell mine.

My car runs sooooo much smoother and pulls so much harder... I think I'm in love...

Guess the previous owner wanted a 97-99 and wouldn't settle for just a front/rear conversion .

You going to keep it now or do you still want a camaro?

Now I dont know, if the car keeps running fine with no CEL or issues then I'll keep it, I dont need any more bills or payments. However if the problem isnt solved then yes I will be forced to sell it. I cant pass inspection here in NY with a CEL with the new system coming up soon, they are going to plug an ODB2 scanner straight into everyones ECU's... Pass or fail no questions. The only other option is to buy a new wire harness which isnt going to happen.

The knock sensor is only suppose to have one wire going into it and the other wire wrapping around that one wire.

Its a shop near where I live, my father had gone there on a previous ocassion with a problem on my neighbors Taurus wagon. I have to go back tomorrow and see how much for the ECU and see if he can find another problem I have... there is something that drains my battery over night if I keep the battery terminal off, its not my system nor my alarm or remote start, he checked those already and I disconnected them over night and the car still woke up with a dead battery, tomorrow he'll have more time with the car so we shall see.

April 05, inspection will still be on the dynometer but they will plug a scanner directly into your ECU... remember the CEL only turns on for emissions related problems, your car could be ready to blow up and it wont turn on so its an automatic failure if that light turns on.

I love Camaro's... maybe even a Cobra... either way we shall see. For the mean time I still have a few payments left then I will decide.

Yes but apparently they were so frayed they were barely making contact... The previous owner didnt do a damn thing worth of maintenance to this car.

Its not the battery, I've been through 3 of them thinking they were bad, alternator charges up fine.

have the rectifier and diodes in the alt checked. bad diodes can cause a drain on a battery even though the alt charges. car uses DC current and the alt makes AC current. the rectifier w/diodes when working properly, only allow DC into the system. when bad they allow current to flow in and out. when the car is off you get a drain.
