I have been reading posts in this forum for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join. There is a lot of great information here. I have searched through many threads hoping to find the solution to my problem before asking it, but didn't find it so here goes. I have just bought a 95 SE 5-speed with a 152000 miles for $2000. The car seems to be in great shape, but on occasion the car just suddenly loses power. Like it is not getting fire or gas. It only lasts for a few seconds, and I usually push the clutch and rev it a little to help it go away. It has happened in all gears. I have tried injector cleaner, plugs and fuel filter. Any other suggestions?

 

good buy, man. i just got my first max about a month ago too; 97 gxe auto, w/ leather, sunroof, and spoiler for $3k. i dont know what your problem might be, but have you checked out all your maintenance stickies? i'll let you know if i run across something that might help you.

 

do you have a CEL? check for codes. it could be your knock sensor

MAF maybe or something electrical. Hooking the car to a scan tool to see if it's throwing codes is a good starting point.

sounds like a knock sensor or dirty throttle body. possibly old plugs. id ge the codes out of ur ecu. its easy and free. u cant beat that.and its like 2 or 3 bucks to get throttle body cleaner
