Strategies for Silencing Dash Squeaks?

The plastic panels on my dash (around the radio and climate controls) are always squeaking on me. I'm really **** about that kind of stuff, and the cold weather is making it louder. Does anybody have a proven method of quieting them down? I saw a post a few days back with a guy who took off the panels and applied something to the edges that made the squeaks stop... anyone recall this?

I think it was insulator tape (thin ones) from home depot.

I used black putty which audio guys use to insulate trunks and such. Same consistency as silly putty and is black. I just applied a long stripped on the inside of the dash where the panels meet up to it and it did a great job, I was impressed. When putting your dash panels back on, it'll mold to the shape of the panels basicly filling in any gaps that would cause it to squeak.
