If you smell coolant inside the car, and you are sure you don't have a leak in the engine compartment somewhere, you have a bad heater core.

if your heater core is going....you will find that your windshield will get fogged up while your car is siting off over night or for a long period of time after you run it.

it will also stop smelling like JUST coolant and smell like BURNT coolant wich smells like donkey ****....it will eventually blow and you will know IF its the heater core that is...

Had that happen to me once (not the donkey ****), but the heater core busted and that green stuff dripped down into the carpet for a while. One day I was cleaning the inside of my car and happened to put my palm against the floor below the passengerside dash and my hand was soaked in that nasty smelling, kinda slippery stuff. It wasn't a cheap thing getting that replaced.

definately a heater core issue. if you only smell it on the inside.
its on the passenger side under the dash.. watch for leaks.

This reminds me of when my heater core in my old 64 ford mustang started leaking suddenly one day, i was half way to work during the winter and it really fogged up my windows really bad. i had antifreeze all over my windshield and some leaked on the floor. it was so fogged up with my windows down i had to pull over. Fun thing to go bad.

It would prob cost abour 160 to replace. The dealership may ask even more than that. Its sad considering my old ford heater core only cost 35 bucks.

Ask around here i bet someone has one lying around.
