I think i know what your doing......

The project i had going before i sold my 96 was using the housing of a regular tail lights, and the outside lens of a altezza. Then put a peice acrelic stuff under the lens(cause the lens is to celear and it would look funny) and then paint the bottom half of the light transparent red. Do this to all 4 peices and wala....

i almost had it going good but i had trouble with the trunk housing matching up with the lens, then i just sold my 96....

someone try this if you have some spare lights and altezzas laying around !

I will in the next few weeks. There are many people on here who say that the altezza clears dont fit on the oem housing. But some say it will. I dont know I guess ill just try it and see what happens

I dont think he is trying to do this. Because it says make clears from normal materials. Which to me implies that he wont be using the altezas.

The last guy that tried this thought that by dipping the amber part of the lense in acetone that the color will wash off. Instead the lense melted. Maybe this guy will dip the material in sea water....who knows. Anyhoo, any attempts that was thought to be doable at first failed, this won't be an exception. Just my 2 cents.

i feel like its possible 2 do if u basically dremal out the entire yellow lense and then perfectly fit a clear lense from some other car and glue it in... prolly easyer then it sounds. one day someone will figure it out. anything is possible

True but the joints will be visible. Unless there's away to make them disappear. Plus how will you seemlessly join the areas where it curves around the corner of the car?

Hey I was that last guy lol Here is where I got the idea from http://www.maserati-rc.org/techtips/Techtip053.htm I made the mistake of thinking that the taillight was painted from the inside. Instead the color is in the matrix of the plastic. Oh well I think ill just sit back and watch this thread and see what happens

The paint you need can be found at walmart in the model cars isle. It is Transparent Candy Apple Red, $3 or so per can. Good Luck! I have been thinking about the Altezzas lens on the OEM housing for some time now. The only thing that had been holding me back is I always thought the altezza's lens had lines going horizontally across it. That I thought would make them look bad, but I dont know though.

I brought that up MONTHS ago but someone said they tried it and it didn't work. If you think about it, he was right. The original lights have a thick, black surround on them which is not part of the lense. The altezzas on the other had, the entire lense is the size of our taillights including the black surround. You'd have to dremel the altezzas as well.

But the problem is I doubt that you will come on the org to tell us you failed (no offense). By telling us, we can offer suggestions, and if in fact it doesn't work, we will know not to try it in the future.

well, ill come on here and tell you either way its comes out. so far everythign is going according to plan and truthfully, its just a matter of painting.

beleve me, either way it come outs, you all will be the first to know. no one can start a project like this, post on this thread about it, and then get away with not telling everyone how it went. there will be too many pms and posts to ignore success or hopefully not failure.

by the way, they will be produced ona first come, first serve basis. you will be required to send your stock outters to me and plan to be with out them for at least one week. if you have altezzas or seomthing, this shouldnt be a problem because your car will still be drivable. final prices, pictures, etc will be posted within a day or so.
