Power Steering done after storm?
Power Steering done after storm?
NE storm hits. Now when i drive, it feels like power steering is no longer in tact. I'm guessing that there is a crapload of snow under my car and may be the culprit. anyone else have this issue?
I think your new av explains everything...
Ok, when your car is cold...(you know what I mean) and you crank it...and then you turn the steering wheel left or right...does it squeal like a b*tch Loud as hell?

Not that i know of. My steering was fine after the little "escapade" i had in the parking lot. Its only when i do full left/right turns that it becomes a b!tch to steer. 1/4 turns left or right is fine. I figured there was snow jamming the crap out of something, but i cant see anything as of now. Did something freeze?
Nah, it doesnt go away when its warmed up. I drove for about 40 mins and still there.
Also, when i first entered the highway this morning, i hit 55 and my car was vibrating like a bad sex toy. It went away a bit later on, im not sure whats up.

Possibly but not likely...it may be signs of your PS pump going out. How many miles you got? Try changing the fluid to LucasOil PS fluid...it's REAL thick and works great. It might solve it.
Eeeeeeeee, I dunno what the vibrating is, are you wheels alinged and balanced?? Check your axles too, f8ck the N.E. - I STILL cant see how yall put up with that

I hit 90,000 miles recently and have never replaced power steering fluid. Is that located in the engine bay? (noob question)
snow effin' sucks.
wheels and tires were fine...everything was fine until i drove the car after the storm

its weird. co-worker has a 99 lakeshore blue max, and had the same exact problems as i did....w/the steering and the vibration over 50.
just looked outside, and its fuggin snowing again. I would move down south to ATL, but the Eagles are in Philly

not to OT the thread but with that pic in mind taking of the timing chain cover should be easy after breaking apart the sealant but nothing else should have to come of. . . ??

UDP is fine....I need to dyno again though
MDeezy - it's not as easy as it looks/seems.

no garage, it was left out in the storm.

Wow, that was a beast of a storm..... thank god my gf drives a stupid Saturn - it takes most of the weather abuse, while my Max gets plenty of alone time indoors. I do have plenty of slush/splash/spray running down the sides these days, though....

Again, my steering was fine on the way home. Nothing leaked thereafter, and a few other people I know had the same symptoms (yet they didnt do any donuts.)

the vibrations at higher speed are most probably caused by ice on the wheels. the ice acts sort of like a weight and makes your wheels imbalanced. when it melts off it should get back to normal. as far as the steering problem goes i have no idea...i'm also have steering problems up here in nyc.
Prior to my joyride, I had no such problems whatsoever regarding steering or ride quality. But I've gotten the same symptoms from many ppl around the area. I believe lewton is correct w/the cold and ice problem.
I cant be the cold, if it was the cold then those problem would go away after the car is fully warmed, the car makes enought heat to melt any and/or all ice that may be anywhere by the engine, so once warmed if the problem still persists, then its not wheatehr related.
not necessarily. the ice on the wheels don't have to melt if they're constantly moving against wind chills and running through wet pavement and snow. the only thing that would really help is if you wash the wheels thoroughly with warm water or wait till it melts off... i had the same problems last year and this year. mine isn't too bad this year though...i only feel it if i'm going over 70. =o)
