i just installed kyb gr2's on my car about 3 weeks ago, brought it to the mechanic today cuz i have a creaking sound coming from it. i saw a little brownish oil on the bottom of the strut. i dont usderstand this. my mechanic said its cuz my car has lowering springs on it and they have no throw to them. will different springs help? can they get worn out? i guess i need a new strut now. this is BS tho im bringing it back 2 the guy who sold em 2 me and put em on my car and getting a refund. i payed 250 for the 2 front ones!!! everyday theres a new problem with my car. i hate this garbage.

what do u think i should do

yea the gr2's are def NOT a lowering strut. they are just an OEM replacement.

You should have a warranty but this is why I don't recommend KYB's to people anymore.

Wrong. Tokico makes our factory struts. Gr-2's are stiffer than stock.

Gr-2's are a good strut for Eibach, H&R, and Tein H-tech's. Some guys use them on the lower springs like sprints, and S-tech's as well with decent results.

Sometimes struts fail. That is why they have a warrenty.

Dana I had the AGXs on my SER and it was LOW, they did fine. The GR-2s are for more mild drops IMHO....

The warranty for GR2's only covers a drop up to 1.5"

i'm running GR-2's w/ S-tech's......been doing it for about a year

i would recommend buying your struts/shocks from a reputable company, i wouldn't do it off ebay b/c it seems the longer the shock sits around in its box the less it lasts on your car

just my experiences

Was it a botched install? When i had GC's my rear blues blew within hours since i did not install correctly

GR-2's are GREAT struts, WAY better than Tokico Blues, I just recently took mine off after about 2 years of much use, and they were not blown, still as stiff as when they were installed and I even sold them. =D

The only reason I took them out was to switch to AGX =)

They probably got scratched somewhere along the install and it was leaking the oil out.

damn exit 10 not another problem!!

my brothers civic had a blown strut he still drove on it for a while, it squeaked when ever he went over bumps and such, it was find I drove it to and from work (before I got a car) and it felt fine, but driving on blown stuts is not recommended especially in NY, the roads are not as smooth as Atlantas.
