Snow Sucks
Snow Sucks
So after all the fun snow and sub-zero temperatures of this week I know have a 2 foot horizontal crack in my windshield.
And this is out of nowhere! No chips or any other impact points!
Anyone know how much a new windshield is?

Most insurance companies will cover it... if not your talking about $150... just remember there are aftermarket ones that are pretty bad quality... then you have OEM ones you can get at a junk yard or glass place from another Max..
as long as you have had the car and it has been insured for 6 months then insurance will cover the replacement. so just take it to giant glass or someplace like that and they will do it and your insurance will pay at least most of it
yeah, i replace windshields and other glass...all it takes is a small chip that you can barely see. Especially with this cold weather, when you have the heat on in your car, the glass expands and contracts with the heat inside and the cold outside and causes it to crack. Just check with your insurance company or as others said, get a good junkyard windshield and have a local auto glass company put it in for ya.

Happened to me, I had a crack in my windscreen not too big but noticable, was driving windows were foggy, I put the heat on the windscreen, I heard two crack, and I saw it shoot accross my windscreen.
I need a new windshield also.
Well all fixed now. Hit up an auto glass/parts & junkyard so the total hit was $110 installed. All I can say is wow I can see again - even with the old windshield clean still has nothing on this one (I guess after 200000miles the windshield takes a beating).
Mine cracked almost right in the middle - coming out of a tiny little rock hit (found it while trying to see where the crack started)
And yeah it is definitely from having the defroster on in this lovely NYC weather this past week.
