[B]whats your reason for greddy...whats the main difference between these 2 catbacks because iam lookin to buy one but some pple say obx and then the other half greddy very confusing no one has givin me a solid answer on why ones better then the other
I have the Greddy on my I30 and love the sound. Much deeper and not so loud at highway speed... Growls like a beast off the line though. I think it is a nicer look to. Not just a fart can on the back like many of the mufflers you see around. IMO you are paying for the name and experience with the Greddy. All they do is performance parts and you sure see them on some nice rides...
OBX: Loud with an aftermarket y-pipe, fitment is a little off, fully stainless steel for cheap money, pipes are 2-1/4"
GReddy loud w/ y=pipe also(maybe slightly less), fitment is excellent, also fully stainless steel but more expensive, pipes are 2-1/2"
For performance, I would say they are about equal. From what I've learned during my years on .org is that cat-backs do NOT make a really big difference in horsepower. If put on the dyno, the GReddy would probably win by a slight margin.
For looks, GReddy all the way. Their fitment is better. OBX is known for low hanging B-pipes. (I had mine fixed for $80) The SP2 Tailpipe is clearly more attractive than the Type-H tail. They are both fully stainless, so yes they will both be pretty. They'll be more rust resistant too.
For sound, IMO they sound similar. The OBX is louder as far as I've noticed.
What I did: I decided on the OBX, based on the dollar value. At the time, OBX made a cat-back that was almost identical in looks to the GReddy SP. Given the slight difference in HP gains, I took the extra $200 and bought a WP Y-pipe. Result: More performance for same $$$.
Now that was on a budget....if I had the $ to blow, I probably would have gone with GReddy due to their rep.
I love my OBX, btw....
