Knock Knock Knock on wood? kinda long

Alright guys, I just installed my midpipe and KN filter last night, and i noticed 2 things.

1) car sounds REALLY good

2) i hear knocking? WTF?

I can see how this setup would increase my ability to hear engine noise, but i cant tell if its my engine knocking or if its just the intake, concidering i have never really had any other max to compare to.

The reason i ask is because i JUST installed a new KS on the max less than 1k miles ago, and i tried retorqueing it last night thinking it was too tight or loose or something.

So, i have 2 questiong. Is this knocking kinda sound normal for the intake setup? and my second question is, with an extention and swivel addapter for a socket attached to a torque wrench, how would i go about torqueing it properly? would the extenstion and swivel adapter effect torque readings?

So in other words when i torque it at 20 lbs would i want it to be a little over 20? a little under 20? or exactly 20 cause the adapters dont effect the torque reading...

thanks guys

the KS, I dont know what the number is for torquing it down, but as long as its tight in there and cant move that should be fine.

As for the knocking do you hear it while driving or at a stop or both? if its while moving and not stopped then maybe your mid pipe is bangin up against something.

Yea its only when i get on it, its not while stopped. I never really understood the concept of knocking and how it actually sounds and when it happens. When your engine knocks do you hear when your stoped as well as when you drive?

As for the torque, i am under the impression that it needs to be torqued between 19-21 lbs, i stuck with 20lbs. The torque is very important, if you overtighten it, technically it will be too sensitive, and if you dont torque it enough it wont sense the knocking properly.

As for the banging midpipe, ill have to check that out, but i think the only thing that is touching anything is the filter resting on the wheel well where the air box used to be.

anyone gota answer for the torque wrench and the adapters/extensions? or whether or not this noise is normal?

Do you have a CAI? I hear what may be similar when I get on it hard... I have a CAI, y-pipe and catback on mine. Good luck.
