O2 sensor HELP
O2 sensor HELP
ok ive posted in a few others posts about my problems but i want to know what i should do sense im gonna go to autozone to get an O2 sensor or 2 so... im getting like 200 miles per tank of gas using premium my performance is kind of suffering and im getting the code 0510 every couple hundred miles because i reset it when it comes on. so heres what it means...0510
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0510 points to a problem with the Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor. This sensor is mounted in the exhaust stream, just downstream of the Catalytic Converter. When the two Front Heated Oxygen Sensors are operating properly the Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor is not used for engine control operation. It is used to monitor the condition of the Catalytic Converter. If either or both Front Sensors fail the Engine Control Module uses the signal from the Rear Sensor to maintain a correct fuel/air mixture. if its "used to monitor the condition of the catalytic converter" and i have a test pipe would that be whats making that code be thrown but then why would it affect my gas milage like its controlling the air/fuel mix? could it be that one of my front O2 sensors went out but im just not getting the code or whats going on. i dont want to go buy a $100 rear O2 sensor just to find out it was one of the front ones or that it was just because i have a testpipe. anyone with input here letting me know exacly which O2 sensor if any i should buy because there so fricken expensive. Yes i know its genral maint. to replace every so often because i DO have 153K on my car with not one O2 changed yet. i hate this O2 crap and i really dont want to spend $300 on sensors when i dont have to. all i want is my power and gas milage back. any help is greatly appriciated. -Ryan
