it's one of the sensors that control the amount of gas used by your engine.
it will also cause emission test failure.
it won't hurt the engine, but it will hurt your wallet.

You should be okay driving it like that for a little while, but your car won't be as efficient. I've needed to replace my rear 02 sensor for about 3 months now...but I just haven't had the time to do it.

rear o2 is to monitor converter efficiency, no biggie if it doesn't work
the fronts control the A/F ratio which affects running, gas mileage etc.

I don't beat their price because I'm selling the NTK one which is a bit more and is the OEM one (look at your original)
I can get other potentially cheaper ones if the interest is there.
maybe Walker?

Maybe I'm just lucky.

I had the same exact code for your o2 sensor. Your car won't have starting problems, but it'll affect your performance & economy. Your Knock Sensor code has probably been triggered as well.

Looking for this info, too. I keep getting mixed info on the name and location for a P0135 code. I was told that's the rear bank, which is the first one off the engine. Is this correct?

your o2 sensor are located in the y pipe. After the headers and after the precats. (i think). You'll need to borrow an O2 wrench from a part store on their loan a tool program. get a big cheater bar becuase those babies are usually stuck in there really damn good.
hope that helps you guys out.

If you have a stock y-pipe they block acess to the sensors a little. I used a big cresent wrench to change mine. I just changed mine last week with the walker(cheapo) sensors. Man, what a difference that made. Car drives like a new one. Lucky for me I had a aftermarket y-pipe.

sorry to bump this really old thread but i need help. my check engine light came on last night and i checked the code and its 1001 (p0155) Front left heated o2 sensor heater (Left Bank). i phoned a mechanic and they want a lot of money to repair this. i figure if someone has a picture they could show of where the sensor is i can just buy an 02 sensor and put it in myself. im not totally sure if its the sensor or the sensors heater thats the problem? i looked up some sensors and theres a lot of differnet ones and im not sure which one to get.

Thanks for your time.

click o2 sensors in drop down list. if u want direct fit sensors, its either Denso part 234-3098 or NGK's but u gotta figure out which month your car was manufactured in. Not sure if that helps

Host doesn't load for me, so no pics.

It tells you, front/left bank. Pretty self explanatory, front of the engine bay, radiator side.

ok, thanks for your reply. we are talking under the car right? if you look at that first outline above that shows an exhaust of the 1999-2000 maxima? my picture was near the part that shows the front B2 sensor, the one closest to the front of the car in that picture. im pretty sure that the front b2 sensor in that is the one that i need to change right? thanks for your time.

my rad i think sits right in the middle of the car.

b2 front sensor near the front of the pipe right?

Let's run rich for a while Left bank! Oh ... and gas is only $4+ a gal, so if you can affod gas, a $20 Oxy sensor is nuthin!

I have replaced mine a couple times, 3 to be exact. Easy job, 5 min's. Don't ask why 3, I couldn't tell ya. The Bosch is good to go though.

lol ... yup, been there done that ..... got the bill to prove it.

I don't even jack the car up to do it anymore, just slide right under (you will likely need to remove the shield (black) that runs under the front of the engine). IIRC, 17mm or 5/8 open ended is what fits. $300 from the dealer is not abnormal, but WAY more than it really costs too. If you go with an OEM, you will pay out the nose, just get a universal from Autozone (or who eva) and splice the 2 white and 1 black wires. Easy as eating pie!

universal o2 = yuck.
direct fit =

a bit more money, but no chance of screwing it up and they tend to have fewer problems.

^^^ how do you screw up a universal, just wondering? To me, it's not worth the more money - especially if I don't have it! lol

wiring it wrong. not getting a secure enough connection between the wires. adding one more point for corrosion to occur.

i bought the sensor. i was under my car almost the whole day and couldnt get a single bolt loose. i tried for a few hours to get the sensor loose with a wrench and couldnt do it. i then figured i would take the guard off and try to get more access to the sensor. i got my socket set and started turning the bolt on the guard then i found the bolt was turning on the other side so it wasnt getting loose. i guess ill have to take it to the dealer, things are just too tight.

Point well taken sir! I solder all of my connections to avoid this very thing. Heat shrink the wires then tape them up. Seems to be wokring ... I guess anyway. No codes, CEL's, or crummy mpg's so ... all is good. I hope the OP can get his taken care of.

To the OP :: Not the Stealership! Take it anyplace else, dealers are always more expensive! 3 bills for an oxy sensor, you're either rich, or you didn't shop around at all.
