Strange car breakdown

I'm hoping someone has had this happened to them 'cause so far I have no clue of what's wrong with my car..
Last night I started driving and the parking brake and battery lights came on.
A few minutes later the heating and the stereo went dead at the same time that the ABS and Air bag lights came on.. My headlights stopped working and the tachometer went down to zero although the engine was still running...
All of it sudden, while at a traffic light, the car stalled. I tried to start the car but no luck. (the starter works and battery is new). After about 10 mins. I finally got the car to start but none of the electrical instruments, windows, headlights... etc. was working. Finally after a few more blocks the car stalled for good and here I am... Is this kind of weird or is it just me? Any advice is greatly appreaciated...
