how much should i expect to pay for getting a stillen body kit painted ?
is it cheaper to buy the paint first and give it to a paint shop than to have them buy it?
is it possible to paint it myself ?
right now it is currently white would i need to strip it first ?
if anyone knows please post up.

I just did mine last I went to checkers and bought some things for it.. I wanted mine black ( car is beige) so I figured I can do it myself. I bought 3 assorted packs of sanding paper (had leftovers) I used a 220g first to get down and dirty then I went finer each time to get it just right. Then I wipped it off and made sure it was nice and clean then sprayed the primer on it ( 2 coats) and then threw on my flat black paint. It turned out awesome but if your trying to match your body color I wouldnt do it myself unless you got it matched from someone else ya know?

If your trying to color match to the body don't attempt to do it yourself, you'll probably never match it and even if you did you need a spray gun and a dust free area plus spraying experience that would cost more than having the job done by a shop. The stillen kit needs to be de-glazed in a solution before it can be painted ( probably not the right word for it but I'm sure you know what I mean). As far as buying the paint, most shops won't use someone else's paint and why would they if they are going to back their work, besides they get it much cheaper than you can and have the proper tints and mixes to color match.
If you take pride in your car which obviously you do or else you wouldn't be on the ORG, take it to a few reputable body shops and get some quotes you'll be amazed in how the price will change from one shop to the other, be sure to ask them what their paint and prep process is? Good luck

You have to use a sealant on most new pieces....... I'd recommend letting someone else do it, especially if you want it to match. They'll blend the fenders and hood into a front bumper so you'd never know it was new.
Most shows use the same brand of paint... just depends on the area. We locally use mostly PPG products and that sort.

what is it with the 2 tone cars and bdy kits now? I think everyone is just getting cheap. If you have a CF kit that is different but paint it body color!!!! Trying to paint the kit roaseowood by yourself i do not think would come out to well. Dropp it off at a shop and have thenm paint it.....it will be the best way to go abou it.
i have been to 2 places to get my kit panted which i have done 2 times and each time they just call it flex additive. if you tell any paint or body shop that they will know what you mean easily.

most of the time you would sand this with 600 grit wet and then seal and paint and clear nib and buff
250.00 per piece including materials and taxes is a fair price
most shops if you want it color matched will ask for the paint code from the car or if you got a freaky color they will ask for the gas cap cover to take to the paint store and use the color camera on it.the camera takes a image of the color and makes a formula to make that color
and if you have a good painter you cant tell the difference

if you dont have the right equipment and area, dont do it. save the hassle and get it done somewhere else. if you fawk up, then you just wasted money, if shop fawks up, they redo it for free.

I'm going to paint my lip myself since I have everything except primer/sealer.
