Replaced my rotors last night with brembo slotted ones. While there, I cleaned the calipers thoroughly with a metal brush and now I'm scared. Well apparently breathing in brake dust (and there was quite a lot of it) can be harmful. This is the first time I did something so stupid. What do you think?

You should call your local poison control center immediately.

Well, since it happened a while ago, not much.

Hopefully you won't develop lung cancer or lupus in the next few days. If you're lucky.

Constant breathing of brake dust is really bad but this amount wouldn't do anything to you. As long as you were able to get fresh air, you should be fine.

You'll be fine... you need "prolonged exposure" for it to do any real harm. One or two good whiffs is just going to make your pee-pee shrivel up.

You''l be fine, there was more of a problem back in the day when pads and shoes were made of esbestos, which they aren't anymore. Even then you need constant exposure for a prolonged period of time to have any real problems.

Unless you are coughing up blood, I wouldn't worry about it. But don't let it happen again.

lol yeah, I heard all about asbestos but brakes made of this were banned in the 70s/80s. I feel great, I mean I ran on my treadmill, like I do every morning and felt no different. I saw the dust when brushing it off the calipers, and did my best not to breathe it in by trying to hold my face away from it as far as I could, while breathing mostly through my nose, which I guess filters the air better.

Anyway, thanks for the responses guys. I'm paranoid of things like that. I love the Maxima, but it would suck if it ended up killing me in return
