most mileage on '95 max
#2
i got a 95 GLE and at 78k i got a new starter because i notice problems and this summer i'm probably going to get a whole new exhaust system because i notice some rust, that will cost around 350, in the winter it's more expensive. i still get great mileage. i have no problems with the engine or tranny. after i get a new exhaust my car will be trouble free.

I've got 97,000 miles on my 95 SE and intend to log 200,000 miles on it. The only non-routine maintenance/repair items were an 0-2 sensor (warranty repair), the starter at 80,000 ($450.00) and the left rear window regulator at 92,000 ($250.00). The 95 starter was prone to problems and Nissan has since upgraded the part. Other than replacing the usual preventative maintenance/wear n' tear items (hoses, belts, filters, brake pads and rotors, battery, struts, shocks, and cv boots), the Maxima has one of the highest "reliability" ratings as a used vehicle from Consumer Reports. The engines run forever. I've heard of drivers logging over 200,000 highway miles on these cars.

well
i got 95k miles on my car and still going strong, gonna get a compression test done, if it is close to stock spec will be adding a 60 shot, but ypipe before that. then the maxima is completely done and saving for next project(///M3)

My Maxima has 141,101 miles on it (just went and checked). The engine still runs very well. I usually read the road kills that people post that have the same mods as I do. My car is very similiar in acceleration to those. Raced a GTP yesterday and he was just barely inching forward and that's a brand new car! The guy asked me if it was supercharged. Probably because of the slight hiss of the y-pipe. Actually I've been asked that a couple times. Major maintenance includes a new starter, used transmission, two clutch kits and an 02 sensor that was stripped when I had the y-pipe installed. My engine has been through a lot with my heavy foot. Btw, I bought the car with 103,000 miles on it. I'm just afraid that by the time I am ready to sell the car, there will be so many miles on it, I won't get ish for it.

My only gripe is that the clutch is starting to show signs of wear. When the engine and tranny is cold, I sometimes get a "stuttering" when engaging 2nd gear. I also am experiencing a very slight momentary grind when slipping into 2nd, again when cold. My last tranny change wasn't Redline, so I'm going to go back to it. So in about another 5 or 10k miles, I'll have to do the standard clutch replacement (will throw in a short shifter then).
I just bought a few extras for the car, to include 10AE shift **** and walnut grain wood dash pieces to commemorate the 100k occasion. I intend to keep her for the next 100k miles!

A rule of thumb
A rule of thumb:
The man who drives moderately and maintains meticulously during the first
100K is rewarded with reliable service during the second 100K.
The man who abuses his car and neglects maintenance during the first 100K
doesn't get a second 100K.

Wow, good to know that the Max will last for quite a while. My 95 GXE is my first car and got it back in Oct. 00 wit 74500 miles. Up to 79k now (time for an oil change..) and still super quiet and running very strong despite the abuse NYC roads (and sometimes I) put on it.. Only extra cost were new tires...

I have to admit I don't push her hard very often. I brake easy, coast to stops, and seldom accelerate really hard (only when really necessary or I was challenged in the right mood) or punish her on wild corners. I'm also adept at avoiding potholes/bad roads. At least, I feel like I've been rewarded!

I got a letter in the mail regarding this issue. I don't remember the specifics but I thought they only extended the emissions warranty by a certain amount? I must praise Nissan, my car was past the extended emissions warranty period by a couple of months/mileage and they reimbursed me for the work I had paid at the Nissan dealership which said there was no recall. Too bad they are the only nissan dealer in town within 2 hrs drive.

100K on my 95 5 speed. Clutch went bad at only 9,000 miles and Nissan replaced. Had an O2 sensor replaced around 50,000 and that's all. My car has sen several runs of 110+ mph for hours at a time and runs like a champ! In fact, my front brakes are stil original. I have added a JWT pop charger, a new wsp Y pipe and changed the tranny fluid to redline. All I have done is clean my air filter and change my oil (and put on two sets of tires). I have done nothing else... Truly amazing! I hope to keep hr another 100K since she is cosmetically and mechanically perfect!
