I Was Tricked!

Well , here it goes. Before I even bought my maxima I didnt really know much about them. After reading the forum for hours and hours at work, i stumbled acorss the part to tell what kind of maxima you have. The 2nd hand dealership I bought my car from said it was a GLE, it looked like it too. Fully loaded... leather and so on, Anyways, after all this time of thinking it was a GLE, its only a SE!!!
dammit Nissan Put Emblems on your car!!! That was a problem I had when going to buy a maxima, never could tell the one I wanted because it only said MAXIMA, nothing else.
Oh well, I was tricked..... Damn dealerships

most GLE's I've seen had GLE on the back. but SE better suspension and I'm not a fan of wood grain so saved a good Grand there.

SE owns all, fogs+a 5speed. unstopable.

SE 5-speed representing So-Cal here. I've had 3 Maximas, all SE's. This is my first 5-speed and if I ever get another Maxima, it will be 5-speed.

I thought you could get any option with any trim you just have to shell out the extra money for it.

except for 5speed with a GLE.

This was quite a few years back (98), but as I recall a fully loaded SE with all the options cost more than a fully loaded GLE

GLE's not available with 5 speed, Bose not available in GXE but standard in GLE, optional in SE. Sold Nissan for 7 years 93-99.

That's what I thought. But maybe he's bummed because the GLE costs more and he got less than what he paid for?

GLE has every option an SE would....BOSE, leather, climate, yada yada

Sometimes I wonder if the SE really has different shocks/struts than a GLE. If it does, I don't think it's noticeable.

Me too I wonder, either way we still replace them for something better so it actually doenst matter to us wheather the SE's suspension is better than the GLe cause at the end of the day GLE driver and SE driver are still trying to replace them with aftermarket ones.

damn stock suspension . . .

lower your car black maxima...jesus christ. And i remember there being a discussion on GLE and SE suspension before, and since i've owned both, if there is a different supsension, its not noticeable. I prefer the SE because i like the rims more than the honeycomb on the 95/96 and sawblades on 97-99. The 5 star look good to me.

if im not mistaken the GLE has higher book value. they start of the same Se's get high in mileage they decrease quite a bit. I think the difference maybe even 1000.

I love my SE with the fogs, 5 speed, and all. I actually like my manual climate control better than an automatic one. The only thing I don't like is my tan cloth, but I'm about to fix that (hehehe) .

I thought the GXE's topped-out at 112 mph due to a speed limiter, and the 112 coincides to SR rated tires??

It's funny how all the German cars top out at 128 mph due to a speed limiter. That would coincide to HR rated tires, but I believe there was some sort of agreement where the Germans would not compete for top speed numbers or something (because ungoverned theirs tend to be pretty outrageous), and only their M or S equivalents would go higher, like 155. That new 2k5 330i perf. pkg. does 155 and once again, speed limited.

The suspension is definetly different, just look at a stock SE standing next to a GLE or a GXE, you'll notice that the back of the SE is lower than the front, not so with the GLE/GXE.
