nice improvment i am guessing. i think its a little raspy though with that straight pipe, also it will get deeper as the y-pipe gets "broken in" im guessing

damn that was nice. do you have an exhaust? i kinda want mine to sound like that now after i heard yours. right now i have a CM straight pipe, custom b-pipe i believe,
gonna get y-pipe sooner or later, ordered a bomz intake. besides the mevi, is the ypipe all i need inorder to achieve that sweet sweet sound?

lol thanks for the compliments and as long as you have 2.5" piping on your b pipe, the bomz intake you ordered, and the y pipe of choise with a straight through muffler it should be pretty close but i also have a custom bigger resonator than normal but all that did was made it more bassy insted of quieting it down lol.

Is that with just a Ypipe, or do you have other exhaust mods?

if that was just a y pipe i think alot more people would either be getting them or not getting them if it was that loud. look at my sig in the first post and the 3rd pic you see my resonated testpipe i also have 2.5" piping with longer than stock resonator as i stated in the previous post then topped it off with just a basic straight through 2.5" to a 4 1/2" tip muffler

Do you mind taking a close up pic of the welds on the y-pipe? From what I see they look terrible, but I could be mistaken because of the angle of the pic.

the way back sounded nice, the test pipe makes it pretty raspy tho. i think it would sound nicer if you just got a hi-flow cat. more deap groaning and less raspy sound.

Dude you need to put the y-pipe hanger on. It makes such incrediable difference in sound, it will get much quieter. Also the flex section will last mich longer if you use the hanger since now the rest of the exhuast is supported by the flex section and not the hanger anymore.

Forgive me if I sound a bit behind but I have never heard of the lyell stainless y pipe. I'm not sure how this compares to the Warpspeed or Budget but all Y-pipes go thru the flex section issues. Not into the raspy sound but the way your car took off there put a smile in my face and its not even my car.

So the testpipe is what made that sound huh? I really like the way the 350z or the G35 exhaust sounds. It's got a nice low rumble yet it roars nicely at WOT.

BTW, I had no idea your car was automagic yet it peeled off like it did! That's insane...your car sounded like a 5-speed specially when it was going from 1st to 2nd.

i know that but the hanger wont fit on there because the y pipe is too far to the passenger side, im not really sure if lyell changed the design from budget but ive never seen a y pipe that has a straight pipe after the flex insted of having a little bend its wierd. It has an angled flange on it so that it fits up with the cat ive never seen that before but it fit. i sat down there for about 15-20 min trying to get the support hanger on but it wouldnt go because it wouldnt fit so i guess im gonna have to make another one out of somthing or else just put a hose clamp around that piece and the pipe together so it doesnt hang like that. it seriously makes a differnce in sound? any suggestions on anything custom for a hanger for that area? btw the welds are actually that choppy it looks kinda wierd but o well works for me cause if it rusts through or flex goes out here comes a new one in the mail free

soulfly do u have a chambered muffler? thats why then. liqidvenom- it sounds like its slipping because right at the limitor i took my foot off put it in "2" and floored it forgot to do it early and it took a little to go through on the tranny it usually sounds nothing like that, though it does still sqweel tires with the drop resistor on Aflood99- i have a FED spec

i think the big thing with my installs and OBD-2 cars is this: everytime i put a new mod on i start it and let it sit at idle for 15min after i reset the ECU and for some reason it has responded better to every single mod ive done then in the past. i would suggest that to everyone, there seems to be no break in period that way its just nospeed-speed. really works wonders.

I would try something to put that hanger back on. Your y-pipe probaly wont last that long without it. My car sounded like crap without the hanger it was so loud(shorty headers, y-pipe, stock cat and OBX 2.25 catback with 2 resonators). It was freaking loud. After I put it back on it sounded much better and quieter. Especially at higher speed that thing is jumping around everywhere without the hanger.

Nice work, My car has a deeper sound, Thats more of a "bee's in a can sound". Ive noticed that my exhaust is just deeper than everyone else. IDK why, I wish I had a camera to record my exhaust. say joosdawg what type of camera did you use??

i used a Sony cyber-shot digital still camera, it was $200 at wal-mart and i got a 128mb memory card with it too. it takes awsome video for a still camera as you can tell plus thats not near full quality because i had to downsize the quality alot to make it the 2mb that it is.

you should get headers next. cattman or obx although cattman is like an extra $400 and both not an extreme hp increase but will dramatically change the sound.
