About how much $$ does the y-pipe go for? Also who makes it for our cars(where can i get it)? And, what does it take to install it, is it a DIY job, or is it better left to a professional? Thanks for any info..

you have to options to purchase a Y-pipe cattman or stillen

cattman (website: http://www.cattman.com ) offers two types. the jethot coated one goes for $335 + shipping and the stainless steel one is $450 + shipping. im not sure about stillen's but the site is http://www.stillen.com (not very helpful...

there has been some debate over which company has a better pipe...hopefully someone else can give you some insight since i haven't experienced the stillen Y...

as far as the install goes, it's completely DIY...

Cattman prices are quoted by Chris... Stillen pipe retails for $325 I think, but we've gotten it as low as $250 for Maxima Day here @ Stillen in California.

It's a DIY job if you have a decent toolbox. Check the install guide on Maxima.org; it will take from an hour to three hours-- I think I can do most cars with good hardware (aka NO RUSTED BOLTS), proper tools and that have cooled off within 90 minutes, easy.

I've done both the Stillen (one-piece) and the Cattman (jethot) pipes. About the same install effort for both.

You will need a good toolbox.

I spent $75 to get it installed >>>>>

last weekend, I did not want to fight with the rusted bolts etc, it is easy to do. Took the car to a muffler shop and it took the guy less than an hour to do it, of course he had power tools. I thought my $75 was well spent. Also the Y-pipe make a big difference in power, look at one of my other posts on the difference it made in my car. Good Luck !!!!

You can do it...

yourself. I didn't want to fight w/ the rusty bolts, so I took it to a performance shop. Muffler shops around my area wouldn't do it for me, b/c it was getting rid of some cats. It cost me $60 to get it done.
