MAFS problem, help!

Hi everyone,

On the way home from work today, my car began to act strange, and would limit the RPMs, until it stalled. I eventually after several tries of restarting and going, I managed to get home at a very slow speed.

When i got home, I reset the ecu, and crancked up the car, and got a code 0102, which is the mass air flow sensor. I did this a couple of times to make sure it really was...Starting the car up is fine, but if i put it into Neutral and would rev up the gas, it wouldonly go up until 2400rpm, and then start to make noise and never go past it. I read some stickies that when you get a 0102 code, the engine is limited to 2400rpm as a safety precaution.

When i opened my hood, I noticed that a connecting plug ran into the MAF, and one of the wires was completely out (the white one). How important is this connector running to the MAF? I pushed the wire back into the plug, but not sure if it's really connected. Is this causing the problem?

This is my 2nd MAF (first was was replaced cause water damaged it), this 2nd one is about 4months recent used from junk yard.

I am debating if this is the MAF itself or, the electrical wiring connector plugging into the MAF. Any one know?

thanks for any help.....i'd like to get this resolved asap so i can get the car back on the road. Do i replace the MAF or the electric plug?

Thanks!

i plugged in whire back into the rubber whole, but i don't think this may be enough to get a good contact....
Should I replace the entire socket plug? and just splice into the wires?

just shoot some solder down in with the wire or just tape it in there real good, replacement would be costly and you would still have to connect your wires to the new plug...

YES, i reset ECU each time, but it looks like there's no connection because about 2sec after i turn the car on, the check engine light comes on.

But how significant are these wires, if the plug isn't working, then does the ECU get back that the MAFS is not working correctly because it cannot read the voltage?

Whats up vlad. Long time no see. Yeah each wire is important. You might need to get a diff connector and cut the old one off and splice the wires together. If you need help you know where to find me.

You can get a new MAF from your local auto store for about 250. Also, you can get a can of electronic cleaner and spay the sensor of the MAF to clean it up a bit.

I know when I had the same problem after my radiator hos exploded the ECU put the car in "Safe Mode" and gave me a MAf code, I had to reset the ECU TWICE! for it to take. I kept trying to reset once to no avail. I was reading up on MAF problems and I read somewhere that you had to reset it twice and when i did , no more problems.
