O/D Button Not Working!

Guys earlier tonight while Manually shifting from 1 to 2 .. 2 to D I saw the OD OFF light on the dash either come on or off if I pushed in the shift lock on the lever, so I pulled over took out the two screws and started to play with it, I pulled it all the way out and some copper wire came out, and now the OD button will not work at all! The car shifts JUST fine, the OD OFF light on the dash comes up when the key is in the on position but I can not engage or disengage the OD OFF / ON feature with the button on the lever... help please?

Does it still shift into OD or no? Is it just the light not working or does OD not function either? I also kind of not get something. Your first sentence, sounds normal. You said that if you pressed the button the light would go on or off. How is that strange?

Yes it still functions into OD. THE LIGHT IS WORKING, the OD BUTTON on the SHIFTER is not working. When I press the SHIFTER LOCK, not the OD BUTTON, the shifter button that I need to press the shift the car into different gears the light would go on or off depending on HOW I touched the shifter button, the light should go on and off if I press the "O/D OFF" button, not the shifter button. The transmission is shifting fine like I said initially, secondly the OD OFF light on the dash DOES come on when I start the car or have the key in the "ON" position.

You have disconnected the switch.

Or rather broke it...

Pull the shifter out, solder the wires back into the system correctly (you'll find the broken ends under the shifter console) and your O/D switch should work just fine once again.
