obsessed?

this afternoon my roomate told me i was obsessed. This after getting new wheels on saturday, my alignment done this morning, and installing red/clear taillights this afternoon.

I humbly thanked him, and told him he had no idea.

...Keep loving your maximas

Ha ha, my parents, sister, friends, but especially my gf say I'm nuts when it comes to my obsessesion with the Maxima. 2 weeks ago my gf was ready to rip me into pieces because I practically didn't have time to see her the entire weekend! She just cannot comprehend how a piece of machinery can possibly be more important that she is (at times ).

Anyhow, I spent the whole weekend in my garage, sick with the mod bug. What I did:

1) Replaced all 4 rotors with Brembo slotted paired with 4 new OEM brake pads
2) Installed suspension (H&R/Illuminas) with KYB dustboots
3) Shaved the rear completely
4) Replaced ps and alternator belts
5) Replaced stock bulbs with 80/100w ones, including new sockets
6) Changed motor oil
7) Had Midas install a new OEM muffler with a nice weld on 4" ss tip

Lots done in one weekend, wouldn't you say?

Dude, I wish you lived near me so I could hire you for your skills. I'd love to do a suspension drop myself, but, alas, I haven't the knowledge to do such work. You were one busy man. Tell your GF she gets to benefit from being seen in a clean mean machine because you have the sense to take good care of your baby.

I love my Max and most understand I'm car man and love to be creative have something different and not may a F**kin dealership a small fortune to replace someting I can do myself.

But I'm with Akumachan, in the grand scheme its my Family, Girlfriend, Then Max and other things, but I Love the car and I have no problem spending a hour or two on here reading answering threads, seeing new mods or updated cars.

My Maxima is my girlfriend.

She's more reliable, costs less, and never says "no". She also doesn't get upset if I stare at Z cars and drool.

Ok so maybe girls are better and I was kidding.

Pu**y.

It's an expression, not an invitation to support the women's movement.

He took one weekend to install a bunch of sh*t and his gf couldn't understand? That's just women .. they always have to rank things in terms of importance. How about she hangs out with him and enjoys his hobby with him?

My wife comes and plays poker with me on Fridays ... and I go see chick flicks with her. I think her "sacrifice" is better than mine.

Me too, I'm obsessed! On this damn org every f****n night! When I'm walking out to my car leaving work, I get a chub. It's all about my Max. My last gf left me because of the car. Oh well, she was a bit** anyway. It's almost like the movie by Stephen King " Christine ". Anyone see it? He was obsessed with his 1957 Plymouth Gran Fury. The car took control of him. Only I hope our Maxs aren't going out at night while we sleep and killing people! Someone needs to remake that movie and put a Max there instead of the Plymouth.....

The girl is more important, you need to learn what is important and real in life, and what is material.

as much as we love the car, fortunately there is always another car out there to love as much or more, I'm sure many who have totaled their max and got another one agree.

I know I say I love my Max not only because of many things about the car, but because of many good times had as a result of the car, road trips, fun experiences, jokes etc, its not just having the car for me, its also things I've done. PLus the Max being my first car, everyone loves their first car.

my roomates got a mustang gt...He smokes me in the straight line but when the road bends he stands no chance.

As far as the girlfriend, it's just as easy to spend money on both. So that's no argument for one of the other. However, there's nothing greater than when she notices my most recent mod AND likes it...i.e. rims and red/clear tails.

My point...having a girlfriend only makes putting money into your car more satisfying

My wife freaked when I told her I was taking off Thurs and Friday to work on the Max.
She also hates our UPS driver...since he's been the door so much.
This weekend:
LSD Tranny swap with torque converter and new axles
New GD slotted rotors and pads and painted calipers on all 4
Underdrive pulley and new belts
Two fuel injectors and clean throttle body, intake manifold and egr
New timing chain tensioner
New OEM foglights
Warpspeed Y-pipe and catback
I don't think I'll have time to paint and install my stillen lip.

I got her a bracelet from tiffany's to so I could do all this.

That is something the girl will put up with if she loves you anyway. I balance both. Whatever she wants is an excuse to ride in the max

any suggestions on getting off this obsession ?? I sometimes think I'm wasting too much of time reading problems on others' cars. Maybe almost 2 hours a day on the org ?!?

Cars is an addiction, something you cant just unbond a man from, you have raw power, and bone cruntching metal, and gasoline, something a man needs in his life. Women come and women go, but your car you will love forever...

Not obsessed at all. I spend a good bit of time here but I've never modded my cars and probably never will. I've simply got better things to spend money on, and it's such a foul cash hemorrhage spending money upgrading a car. It's almost like a bottomless pitt. You'll never realize your monetary gains and when it all comes down to it you can't get anywhere faster than somebody in a sentra anyway

Admittedly, if I was single and looking to waste a thousand a month I'd probably do it. I could finance things on my credit card now, or not put money away for retirement or my daughter's education, but that's pretty darn lame.
