LEDs too bright? Variable brightness exists...

I have read many posts about how people like the LED gauges but feel that some are too bright. Some people have talked about resistors, etc., and it seems that there are many opinions on the subject.

I had a thought that I wanted to share, cause I personally think that some of the LEDs I have used are too bright as well. The solution is to purchase a variable resistor so that you can control the brightness level.

Potentiometers have various ratings, and you can find them at your local electronics store. They come in varying shapes and resistances, simply choose what suits your needs. They function just like your stock dimmer switch, because that's all the dimmer switch is: a potentiometer.

Just a thought: choose your mood (bright or dim) by adding a potentiometer...

I think ppl put in led's to make thier gauges brighter.. thanks for the info altho

and yes you can use the stock dimmer to an extent if you are pulling thier power from a originally dimmer affected source

I agree. However, what led me to post was that I had recently read of some people who complained that theirs were "too bright", or that passengers thought so as well. My post was simply to inform of the option to "choose your mood" instead of having to live with bright all the time.
