brake problem
brake problem
I know this sounds like such a newbie question, and I apologize for having wasted ur time reading this, but I just want to clarify that I hear a screeching sound when I brake... I just want to know if all I need is to grease up my brakes, or do I need to change them entirely, because the screaching lasts for as long as I put pressure on the breaks... just want to know
and once again, I apologize for the newbie question because I really don't know jack about cars...
oh, and I just bought a thick grille mesh for my car, does anyone know how to install it by myself? O do I have to go to a body shop for that?

well if you just noticed the noise, it's probably the wear indicator. The wear indicator is a warning that your pads are low, and makes an annoying squeel when you brake. Check the pads. If there is only 1/4 left you should replace them soon.
If there is pad, then you should get some anti-squeel ($4) from any auto parts store or have the shop put it on. Changing pads are easy. Just follow instructions in stickys.
If you hear a grinding, then your pads are having metal to metal contact. Change pads immediately or your rotors will be toast. And you could get into an accident.
For the mesh grill, get some plastic tie wraps. It's pretty easy to do. Take off the bolts that hold the grill in and put on the mesh. (1/2 hour job at a shop if your lucky) Check stickys for install of grill.
Hope that helps.
