Putting a new engine in the 4th gen.. What else can I replace?
I will soon be putting a new engine in the 4th gen and wanted to see what other parts should I replace while I am at it?
So far I haev this on the list.
- Engine
- Axles
- Clutch
- Flywheel
- Water Pump
- Alternator
- Belts
- Clutch Master Cylinder
- Plugs
- New Gaskets
- Injectors
- Motor Mounts
- Lightened Crank Pulley
- Knock Sensor
- O2 Sensors
- EGR Sensors
- Cam/Crank Sensors
- Clean the intake manifold
- Rear main seal
- Thermostat
If any of you PROs think there is something that I left, please add it to the thread since I am trying to get everything together before I start the swap.
Thanks

When you do the swap, go ahead and buy new gaskets for just about everything. You might not want to trust the ones on the motor that hasnt been run for a while.
You might also want to consider either swapping over your current injectors or having the ones in the motor thats about to be installed tested.
This is something I wished I wouldeve done during my swap.

I've got about 203k right now and with the exception of belts and plugs (maintainance items) everything is original. That and I dont have a clutch, I have an auto....but the point is that this stuff doesn't normally break.
Again, why are you doing a massve rebuild? Just curious.

Should have wrote earlier, I have a timing chain cover that is bad on the current motor so the best bet is to replace it and then take care of the chain cover while its off. I am not worried about the $$ factor since most of the stuff is already sitting in my garage.
Jeff - Thanks!!!
I definitely forgot motor mounts, urethane or regular? Keep adding it folks. Thanks!
