Flex pipe leak

I was just told by my mechanic that my flex pipe needs to be replaced. The noise I was hearing was because this pipe has worn out. I called nissan dealership and 730 is the going price. I can not find it used, and not sure what next to do. I seen some posts on warperformance (or something) similar and need some guidance from the gallery..96 GXE 210K miles.

Thanks.

I assume you mean the flex portion of the y pipe. I would by an aftermarket y pipe, universally recognized as one of the best, cheap performance mods. Companies such as Budget and Warpspeed sell these and they have the flex section. This will be around or under 200 dollars. Not sure where the 730 figure comes from. You can then take your new y pipe to a local exhaust shop to have it put it. Then it will be better than new.

The pipe that connects the two manifolds to the engine. At the engine joint/connection there is a "flex pipe" that as the engine moves or vibrates it does not move the pipe and the exhaust stays in place. When I called the dealership they told me the piece costs $730.00. My understanding is that there is a flex section in the y-pipe that connects to the catalytic converter, but Im looking for the flex part that connects to the engine, and how to get around that part.

yea, you are looking for a y-pipe, just get a aftermarket one, it gets rid of the 2 pre cat converters, which frees up to around 15-20 hp(dyno proven) but if you dont want to get aftermarket, PM me i have a stock one with only 29k miles on it

I would definitely get an aftermarket Y Pipe. You can get a Budget or Warpspeed for around 200 bucks, and install it yourself. Worst case scenario, buy the Y Pipe and take it to an exhaust shop to install it, you will still be saving money compared to 730.

i would def go aftermarket, as mentioned go with budget or warpspeed. cost around $200 and should gain you a few hp as well. if you dont want to go that route post in the for sale im sure you can find someone willing to get rid of a stock one they have laying around.
