just came across the motivational engineering rear shock mounts. sounds like something i'd really be intrested in. does anyone have these on, and how much of a difference did they actually make in your ride comfort? more importantly, does anyone make anything like this for the front? that extra inch and a half of travel for the front would be a definate must buy for me. any help here would be great. anything that will help the car ride better is a definate intrest. im waiting for wsp to finish the sfc, so im looking for anything else i can also get.

The only way to get strut travel back up front is to use the KYB dust boots with integrated bump stop (slightly shorter then OEM) or cut the OEM ones down by about an inch.

I have the MV mounts, they make a world of differance in the ride by letting the rear of the car able to absorbe larger bumps. They give back about an inch of rear suspension travel, combine that with KYB dust boots and you have plenty of travel in the rear on a lowered setup.

I don't think Motivational engineering is making the rear mounts for the Maxima anymore. Ben, member name mzmt has a similar item for sale. Contact him for the rear mounts.

by cutting the bump stops, and using different boots, im only gaining wheel travel at the point where the car's suspension would bottom out correct? woulnt really effect the comfort zone in normal driving? my car doesnt bottom out, just looking to improve the ride quality.. im on h&r's and non adjustable kybs

Well that is what those mounts are supposed to do, increase suspension travel. They help ride quality by making you bottom out less. Sub frame connectors and other chassis stiffening mods are supposed to make the car handle and ride a little better but the only way to have stock ride is to run on stock springs which look like a stupid 4x4.

Toss the KYB's, they are a very firm strut and are giving you the harsh ride. Put a set of Tokico Illuminas in and set them on 2 all around for a very sweet ride.

I'm not sure that you can really raise the strut mounting point up any higher without having to modify the hood. I haven't taken any exact measurements however, so it may be possible.

you wouldn't be able to close the hood if they made 'em for the front...

You cant do the mounts on the front because the strut and spring need to turn (Macpherson struts), if we had an upper control arm then this could work. The g20 is a perfect example of a car that can use front and rear mounts.

At the moment the only way to get more travel is to use 3rd gen Koni inserts. The are shorter than stock giving around 1 1/2" of travel back. I dont think anyone has attempted this, since I was the one who brought it up. Only reason why I have not done this yet is because the Konis are not externally ajdustable.

Tom, How much of a difference do you think I would notice by replacing my AGX's with Illuminas? Im riding on AGX's and GC Coilovers.. Signicant? I absolutely hate the ride on my AGX's and have considered getting rid of my GC's due to the harsh ride, but I love the stance my car has with them being as low as they are.. Your thoughts?

Thanks,

-Nick

i have seriously been considering this.. only havent done it cause of the the dollar factor.. its not that i dont have the money to do it, its becuase ive dumped so much money into fixing things in this car that ive only had a little over a year now, its like when is enough enough? about 4 grand in the last year.. and there still things that need attention.. i feel like im stuck between a rock and a hard place, cause its one thing after another with the car. i say i might as well just sell it and go lease something new, but the truck i wanna get is having alot of problems too.. so its either call it quits with this, or spend like 600 for the struts and install, fix the other stuff, and sit around an wonder whats gonna go next.. im not 19 anymore ya know.. i dont wanna spend my time maintaining a car constantly.
