Guy's I am goin this week to get a hayden tranny cooler but do you feel a difference with it ? I know it's worth getting to prolong the tranny but do you feel the difference when it's installed?

 

Oh definatly. Most a/t problem are caused by the tranny over heating. A cooler is a great Idea to extend the life. You already have a tranny cooler built in the radiator but adding an larger external cooler will provide better cooling.

 

I suggest a B&M cooler as they have a by-pass valve/hose. You don't want your trans to be getting cooled during the winter do you? We have atranny cooler alreeady? Didn't know that.

 

Yup on the bottom of the rad it 2 lines which has a spiral tube inside the radiator which cools the trans fluid with the anti freeze.

 

I have a Hayden 403 in the garage. Have had no time to install it yet, bought because I plan to do the Drop Resistor mod.

trani life sounds good to me...there's one build in already, does it not do a good enough job? i live in Vancouver canada and we dont get REALY hot weather here. would it be worth it to buy a cooler or would it be pointless?

 

noo japanese cars have small *** tranny coolers, which dont do the job as good as aftermarket ones. i have the haydene ultracool. btw after i did my tranny swap this guy who is a technician for nissan told my dad that aftermarket tranny coolers are one of the secrets to make the tranny life last much longer. a reason why american cars tranny dont fry as much is because they have huuge tranny coolers. 90% of tranny failure is caused by overheating of the tranny

it would be point less at the time. you would have too be heavily modded and i dont mean just intake, mevi and exhaust. the stock does a good enough job as it is. its a mod you can do just to be safe but if you are not always going to track meets and doing alot of racing beating up on the tranny you dont need to waste that $50.oo

Just go to Autozone and buy the Hayden 403; it'll be about $40.

#1 All cars have tranny coolers...how else would you cool 200f fluids?

#2 Both my max and the Pathfinder at my house have aftermarket coolers run inline with the stock ones. Why would i not want it to get cooled during the winter? i agree there is an optimal fluid temp but i have seen nothing to make me think i should throw in a bypass. Please show me something to make me want to put one in!

#3 This is for who started this thread: you don't need a tranny cooler. it can't hurt and could possibly slightly extend your tranny life but...it's really a waste of 50 bucks.

#4 Funny i'v known american cars trannies to fail alot. well i know of 3 buicks which trannies shat the bed all right around 90-110k. i swear i think thats when american cars are made to break.

#5 My cooler, a Hayden 404(30 bucks online) is more then i need even with my upgraded VB. maybe if i was hauling something it would be needed but it's really overkill.

#6 if you use the DRmod at the strip your only using it for what 15 seconds? a cooler isn't needed. stock is fine. if you drive around using it, 1 your stupid and 2 an aftermarket tranny cooler will not help you.

 

that would be sufficient if i was to do a vb mod and upgrade my tc?

yes. a 404 is plenty even with a vb and tc upgrade.
