Have your battery and alternator tested at your local auto parts store. This is a classic symptom of a failing charging system that is unable to provide enough power to maintain a spark when the alternator is only turning at idle speed.

And some 97's.. call the dealer and provide them with your VIN Number, they have a list of VIN numbers which had the faulty alternators.

Happened to me too. Have the solution

Dear Maximus_95

I had the same problem about a year ago.
I replaced the fuel pump, cleaned all the valves, etc..

Spent about a 1000 dollars for nothing.. the problem
kept coming back.

It was the temperature sensor: a 15 dollar part !The
sensor was telling the engine it was running at minus
forty (-40) degrees. then it kept sending more and
more fuel, flooding it, then causing the stall / engine stop.

Regards,

BrazilianMax

Cool. I spent 3 years in Sao Paulo. Moved to Rio de Janeiro 2 years ago. I was born in Panama City, Panama.

The cool thing about Brazil, is that the Nissan Maxima they sell here is
actually the i30 with Maxima logos in the rear

Regards,

BrazilianMax.

BTW.. check out this post. This guy went through the same problem

I had a similar problem. It was the camshaft position sensor (or was it crankshaft?... the one on the passengerside by the pulleys).

The cam sensor is on the timing chain cover

There are 2 crank sensors, one on the bell housing of the transmission and one under the crank pulley
